Food Chain - Kid's Corner The Food Chain Every living thing needs energy in order to live. Everytime animals do something (run, jump) they use energy to do so. Animals get energy from the food they eat, and all living things get energy from food. Plants use sunlight, water and nutrients to get energy (in a process called photosynthesis). Learning News, Videos, Reviews and Gossip - Lifehacker I totally agree, but don't think that wikipedia-surfing is a good example, because you search for stuff that you want to know (or maybe easier to understand) while when reading a scrience book f.e. you have to read all the way through the article, even if some parts are harder to understand I tend to agree as well, but I've found that as someone who strives to learn almost to the exclusion of all else in my life, when that learning is severely depressed by any of a variety of factors, I'm encouraged to drink. Maybe dumb people don't 'not care,' but they're just not as capable of learning, and lack to means of acquiring the necessary facilitation to expand their minds. Or, maybe you're right and they don't care. I think, as the years go on, I've come to believe that intelligence levels and opportunities are a lot more situational than I'd once thought. But yes, the desire, the motivation is a key factor in anything.

Space – News, Research and Analysis – The Conversation – page 1 There are probably more than a million planets in the universe for every single grain of sand on Earth. That's a lot of planets. My guess is that there probably is life elsewhere in the Universe. Are there stars other than the Sun that might explode soon close to us? DIY Pulley for the loungeroom stairs – Go Science Girls How we made our first DIY loungeroom pulley – and learning about physics and simple machines through play. We’ve been wanting to make a pulley for a while now. I’m not quite sure when exactly the fascination started, but it’s been going for a few months at least.

Working with Wind Energy Lesson Focus Lesson focuses on how wind energy can be generated on both a large and small scale. Student teams design and build a working windmill out of everyday products and learn about anemometer and site testing. Student windmills must be able to sustain the wind generated by a fan or hairdryer at medium speed at 2 feet and rotate, lifting a small object upward. Students evaluate the effectiveness of their windmill and those of other teams, and present their findings to the class. Animals www.kidcyberteachers.com.au Need help planning classroom activities? Types of Simple Machine Wheel and axle Wheel and axle are those simple machines which consist of two co-axial cylinders of different diameters and are mounted on an axle. Usually the effort is applied to the big cylinder and the load is overcome by the small cylinder. These machines help us by multiplying force. Penn State Engineering: Where the rivers meet the Sea: Harnessing the energy generated when freshwater meets saltwater Harnessing the energy generated when freshwater meets saltwater By Jennifer Matthews UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State researchers have created a new hybrid technology that produces unprecedented amounts of electrical power where seawater and freshwater combine at the coast. “The goal of this technology is to generate electricity from where the rivers meet the ocean,” said Christopher Gorski, assistant professor of environmental engineering at Penn State. “It's based on the difference in the salt concentrations between the two water sources.”
