As a quick reminder: we are currently founding the adidas Group Learning Campus, our “Corporate University”, the one-stop shop for all training, learning and development offers across the adidas Group. The adidas Group Learning Campus consists of three pillars: Physical learning spaces in all locationsA virtual Learning Campus Online, a platform for collaborative, self-driven and technology-based learning that provides access to learning anywhere, anytime and on any deviceAnd, going forward, the Future Workplace, the personal workplace of each employee, where learning is fully embedded in the daily work. As much as we embrace the digital world and see huge opportunities for learning, we do believe that a combination of digital and physical learning spaces brings both worlds together in a most efficient and human-centred way. Toward an open Internet of Things In a couple of posts and articles, we’ve nibbled around the notion of standards, interoperability, and the Internet of Things (or the Internet of Everything, or the Industrial Internet, or whatever you want to call it). It’s time to say it loud and clear: we won’t build the Internet of Things without open standards. What’s important about the IoT typically isn’t what any single device can do. The magic happens when multiple devices start interacting with each other. Nicholas Negroponte rightly criticizes the flood of boring Internet-enabled devices: an oven that can be controlled by your phone, a washing machines that texts you when it’s done, and so on.
Fab Labs As digital fabrication grows in popularity, innovators in education are recognizing the enormous potential that Fab Labs and other maker spaces can bring to students in a school environment. As the technology of digital fabrication becomes more readily available, affordable and easy to use, the potential for digital fabrication in schools is becoming a reality. However, Fab Labs and maker spaces as conceived are not built to serve the distinct needs of a school district. This is where FabEd comes into play. TIES, together with the Fab Foundation, is responding to the growing needs of educational institutions across the globe for innovative and engaging learning spaces. This collaboration, started with the design and launch of MC2STEM High School in Cleveland, OH, is formed around bringing Fab Labs into the PK-Workforce learning, training, and development environment.
Room Redesign Project : 5 Steps (with Pictures) - Instructables As we entered distance learning, I, like many educators, needed to find ways to still provide my students with meaningful instruction that was engaging and challenging, yet fair for varying home situations. I teach 6th through 8th grade in Madison New Jersey on the content areas of Technology, Engineering, and Design along with lots of Math, Science, and Art integration. For my "Integrative STEM 6" course with my 6th grade students, I wanted to create an activity that would continue to apply the problem solving and brainstorming skills were covering before distance learning, as well as allow students to use software or other methods in creating some type of visual / 3D model. The challenge is titled "Room Redesign" and the name sort of says it all. The real-world premise is that we are all stuck at home with a lot more time on our hands and interacting with our families more. ernment as a platform — Government Service Design Manual The government is implementing a platform-based operating model. Google, Amazon, Twitter and Facebook, among many others, have all built their success on the back of platforms. They have developed a core technology infrastructure that others have then built upon, driving the success of the platform and meeting far more users’ needs than the original provider could have done on their own. Stickies What is Stickies? Stickies is a PC utility I wrote to try to cut down on the number of yellow notes I was leaving stuck to my monitor. It is a computerised version of those notes. The design goal behind Stickies is that the program is small and simple. Stickies will not mess with your system files, or write to the registry.
