Higg Co. connects with Open Apparel Registry's API. Moving one step more towards sustainability, Higg Co. connects with the Open Apparel Registry’s API and adopts OAR ID to improve apparel sector facility data.
The Open Apparel Registry (OAR) announces the integration via API of facility name and address data from the Higg sustainability software platform, establishing an unprecedented collaboration to streamline facility data records for the apparel industry. The integration allows a facility to link its Higg Index account to its OAR profile using an OAR ID. Supply chain partners can then use a facility’s OAR ID to find its Higg Index assessments on the Higg platform. As per OAR, the API integration and cross-referencing of data between the Higg and OAR platforms saves facilities, brands, retailers and civil society time; collates disparate facility lists into one central, uniform repository; and mitigates the risk of inaccurate data sharing.

Human trafficking in Jharkhand continues in the name of jobs being offered in garment industry. In Ranchi (Jharkhand), police have saved 17 women (including one minor) who were reportedly being trafficked after being promised jobs of sewing operators in a garment factory of Tamil Nadu.
Naushad Alam Ansari, SP, Ranchi (Rural) told media that police is investigating the matter. It is pertinent to mention here that human trafficking has been a big issue in Jharkhand, and it was only 2 months back that the State Government had formed an anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU). After Speedo, now WRAP will investigate Page Industries.

After the UK-based swimwear brand Speedo International, now Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is also investigating the matter. DPD launches green delivery service across UK. DPD, the parcel delivery firm, has announced its plan to establish zero and low-emission delivery means by 2025.

Online monitoring to control pollution in Haryana. Hurr Collective has collaborated with CoGo for the launch of footprint tracker feature. Hurr Collective, a luxury rental platform, has collaborated with CoGo, sustainable living app, for the launch of real time carbon footprint tracker into its business. The application considers three pieces of data for the calculation of carbon footprint including the company or companies, emission factor and transactions.
For the brand, CoGo algorithms and analysis assume a displacement rate of the rented pieces of apparels across the fashion rental platform. Every time a dress is rented, the footprint tracker calculates the saving of the carbon emission. Victoria Prew, Co-founder of Hurr Collective, said “Showing our customers their positive climate impact harmoniously bolsters the founding principles of peer-to-peer fashion renting while promoting circular consumption models in the fashion industry and beyond.” The software prioritises the environment and aims to makes the customers aware of the climate impact. COVID-19 triggers massive job losses in B’desh apparel sector, says WTO. According to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the coronavirus pandemic has triggered massive job losses, especially for women, in the readymade garment sector of Bangladesh. On account of future order cancellations and customer refusals to pay for current orders, more than a million garment workers in Bangladesh have already been dismissed or furloughed, indicate recent surveys, underlined the WTO, as per information note of Geneva-based secretariat of which, orders received by garment manufacturing units in Bangladesh declined by 45.8 per cent over the first quarter of 2020.
