Homemade Coffee Creamer

Homemade Coffee Creamer
My friends tell me the one thing they can’t give up is their flavored coffee creamer. I can understand. Creamy, sweet, smooth, with all sorts of different flavors to choose from. The problem is the ingredients. Have you ever read what’s in those bottles? They are full of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and hydrogenated oils. So if you’re hooked on store-bought creamer then today’s your day. Next time you have friends over for a gathering, make a few batches of homemade coffee creamer, put them in cute bottles and have a coffee bar. A great alternative to regular coffee is herbal coffee. *Since posting these recipes in September 2010, I have developed a few new recipes: Caramel Coffee Creamer and Honey Vanilla Coffee Creamer, Sugar Free and Dairy Free Coffee Creamer **Teeccino contains barley, so if you need to avoid gluten an organic decaf would be a better option. Orange Blossom Frescas - A beverage for the Morning After I know this is a strange day to post about a refreshing, cold beverage, being we’re in a midst of a Snow Advisory but I’ve been drinking Orange Blossoms with Cranberry and Mint all day long and it’s just too good not to share. I started making Infused Waters out of necessity. Being a poor college student and wanting some variety in my daily menu, I just took fresh fruit and picked some mint that was growing wild on campus and let it ferment for a few hours in ice cold water. But I had no idea that my inexpensive yet delicious beverage actually had roots in Spanish Cuisine a.k.a Aguas Frescas or Fresh (cold) Water! Aguas Frescas is super easy to make.

Custard Pudding Creamy and smooth puddings are generally called purin and are popular desserts in Japan. This is a basic custard purin recipe. Yield: 6 puddings Ingredients: How To Make Barista-Worthy Coffee At Home Make coffee at home instead of buying fancy lattes at the local cafe (or, OK, Starbucks outpost), and you’ll save boatloads of cash each year. Shocking, right? If only it were that simple. Although financial gurus repeatedly trot out the so-called latte factor as a prime example of how we’re all busting our budgets, the tired tip fails to account for one major hurdle: taste.

Step-by-Step: Amazing Spiced Chai Concentrate – Tasty Kitchen Blog Warm spices, strong tea and steamed milk swirling around in my tummy make chai lattes a favorite during the winter months. It warms me from the inside out in a way that puts coffee and tea to shame. Unfortunately, the chai concentrate from certain coffee chains is too sweet. But there is something better. It never occurred to me to make my own chai. (Certainly it must be too hard.)

Lemon Rosemary Salt Roasted Fingerlings #potatoweek One of my goals during #potatoweek was to come up with 5 new, creative and healthy potato recipes to add to your everyday meals. I think potatoes instantly get a bad rap as being “bad for you” because some of the first things that come to mind are french fries, buttery mashed potatoes and cheesy scalloped potatoes. Don’t get me wrong, they are all delicious and certainly fine to indulge in occasionally but what about the rest of the time? Peanut Butter Breakfasts You all know how much I love peanut butter and how often I include it in my breakfast. That's why I was excited to hear about the Peanut Butter for Breakfast campaign put on by the National Peanut Board in honor of National Peanut Month. I have always thought that peanut butter is a great breakfast option since it goes with almost anything and has a high nutritional content. Two tablespoons of peanut butter provide eight grams of natural, plant-based protein and are an excellent source of niacin and a good source of Vitamin E, magnesium, and phosphorus.

Suck It, Starbucks!: The Q No one seems to understand why iced coffee costs so much more than the regular stuff. Sure, some theories exist: that it's more labor-intensive, that plastic cups are more expensive than paper ones. But on an unseasonably warm spring day recently--when people were lined up out the door of the Starbucks across from my office, waiting to buy iced coffees that cost 30 percent more than hot ones--another idea occurred to me. Namely, that coffee chains and convenience stores had converged on a simple truth: Like flip-flops and sundresses, iced coffee is one of the undeniable pleasures of summer.

Spinach Dip Spinach Dip Photo Credit Getty Images Skill Level: Beginner Serves: 20 Start to Finish: Less than 30 minutes Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 15 minutes Brazilian Lemonade This is my most favorite drink. Ever. Maybe I’d feel differently if I drank (as in alcohol), but there is nothing I love more than a warm, breezy afternoon and a pitcher of Brazilian lemonade. I didn’t try it for a long, long time because I was very put off by putting sweetened condensed milk in with citrus fruit. It seemed very wrong. And then I had some at Tucano’s and my life has not been the same since.

Stacy Stowers There’s a very good reason why it’s called the Happy Shake! Though this creamy blend tastes like a delicious dessert, it’s chock-full of spinach, berries and super happy foods, like raw chocolate and maca. The Happy Shake is a meal replacement. It’s a key place to start when trying to lose excess weight, increase energy levels, and get healthier and happier. Before you get started, keep in mind the Happy Shake is more about technique than anything else. You can take these same ingredients, throw them into a blender and get a glass full of lawn clippings.
