While some may associate “weird” with “modern” when it comes to art, you might be surprised to see how many of these were written in the seventeen- and eighteen-hundreds, long before being weird was even cool. In chronological order, here nine of the top contenders. 1.

How To Search Free Ebooks Independently Like A Search Engine How To Search Free Ebooks Independently Like A Search Engine Ideally, the first step that you need to take is to identify the status of the ebook title that you’re searching for – to identify whether it’s free or not. A quick search through your favorite search engines should give you a pretty good idea. If the results you’re getting are mostly from Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, or basically any book review sites out there, chances are, you’re searching for a commercial book. From this set of results, it’s quite safe to say that chances are quite high that both ebook and paperback versions for that title are not free.

I finished the bulk of it in 1 week or so, then I recently found it again and decided to ‘polish’ it a bit – and here’s the finished piece! :) Oil on canvas paper, 305×228 mm It’s a great feeling to be motivated to produced art (as liberally as I may use the term) by a work of outstanding genius like Shakespeare’s King Lear! In his Poetics, Aristotle points out the six elements of Classical tragedy: plot, character, diction, thought, spectacle, and song. The Rainy Day by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Portland, Maine 1842) The day is cold, and dark, and dreary; It rains, and the wind is never weary; The vine still clings to the mouldering wall, But at every gust more dead leaves fall, And the day is dark and dreary. My life is cold and dark and dreary; It rains and the wind is never weary; My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past, And youth's fond hopes fall thick in the blast, And my life is dark and dreary.

J.R.R. Tolkien Reads from The Lord of the Rings and Sings “Sam’s Rhyme of the Troll” in a Rare Recording By Maria Popova In the summer of 1952, sixty-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien (January 3, 1892–September 2, 1973) encountered a tape recorder for the first time, which resulted in some wonderful archival audio of the beloved author reading from The Hobbit. So enchanted was Tolkien with this novel technology that he proceeded to record himself reading much of his work over the years to come.

David Chalmers David Chalmers I am a philosopher at New York University and the Australian National University. Officially I am Professor of Philosophy and co-director of the Center for Mind, Brain, and Consciousness at NYU, and also (20% time) Professor of Philosophy at ANU. I work in the philosophy of mind and in related areas of philosophy and cognitive science. I am especially interested in consciousness, but am also interested in all sorts of other issues in the philosophy of mind and language, metaphysics and epistemology, and the foundations of cognitive science. This site includes quite a bit of my own work (e.g. all of my papers), and it also includes a number of resources I've put together on topics related to consciousness and/or philosophy: e.g., MindPapers (a bibliography), directories of online papers, and some philosophical diversions.
