O ciclo é composto por quatro etapas, que ocorrem de forma contínua e simultânea. Elaboração - A proposta é elaborada pelos órgãos do governo e encaminhada ao chefe do Poder Executivo, que apresenta o projeto à Assembleia Legislativa do Estado. Discussão e Aprovação - O projeto é avaliado pela Comissão de Finanças Públicas da Assembleia Legislativa, que realiza audiências públicas e propõe emendas no texto original. Execução - Compreende a fixação de quotas orçamentárias e financeiras para cada unidade orçamentária, em conformidade com a LDO daquele ano. That was the word from Budapest-based members of Schneider Electric's Energy and Sustainability Services—including three CEU alumni—who recently addressed an audience of nearly 40 students and alumni. They described their work, the firm's hiring practices and open positions in Budapest. Mihaly Bor, the team's General Manager, led the session. With a global presence in more than 100 countries and over 144,000 employees worldwide, Schneider Electric is often described as an innovative giant in the energy industry. Energy and Sustainability Services, which employs a number of CEU alumni, provides consultancy services to large energy consumers, helping clients optimize price, increase efficiency and operate sustainably. Ivana Durovic (ECON '17), an energy sourcing analyst, spoke about Schneider's commitment to ongoing learning.

Indigo Agriculture, Anheuser-Busch partner on climate-friendlier rice Image credit: Budweiser This week, Anheuser-Busch announced a partnership with Indigo Agriculture — a company that works with growers to improve profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health through the use of natural microbiology and digital technologies — to advance sustainable rice production. Indigo has committed to delivering 2.2 million bushels of Indigo Rice™ to Anheuser-Busch that is grown with specific environmental attributes. “Anheuser-Busch is leading the food and beverage industry in meeting consumer demand for sustainably-grown ingredients,” said David Perry, Indigo’s CEO. Anheuser-Busch buys rice from all over the US, and mills approximately 2.6 million pounds of rice a day at a company-owned facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

You might also have learned about the then-developing field of nuclear fission. Today you might learn about Magna Carta still, possibly with a clearer understanding of its influence, but the field of machine learning would be the exciting new area instead of nuclear fission. Seventy years ago, a new research center established 10 miles north of the George Washington Bridge was developing innovative research on the Earth’s interior. Despite this inevitable and healthy, but gradual, development, it is worth asking whether a university or universities generally are still structured optimally for tackling the hard and typically trans-disciplinary problems faced by today’s society. In this context, you may have noticed that Columbia University is launching a Climate School.

2021 EY Global Climate Risk Disclosure Barometer | EY - US Understanding the biggest emission-reduction levers up and down the value chain Understanding climate risks and opportunities goes beyond an organization’s own footprint and can involve more complex data management, analysis and forecasting. For most organizations, the emissions from up and down the value chain (Scope 3) are much higher than those from their own operations (Scope 1 and Scope 2). The biggest levers are likely to come either from downstream manufacturing or transport, or the upstream processing, use or transport of products. This is not just an issue in emission-intensive industries such as iron ore mining, where significant Scope 3 emissions come from a customer turning the product into steel. As a result, the most powerful emission-reduction levers are rarely intuitive. Not surprisingly, stakeholder scrutiny around value chain emissions is growing, especially in carbon-intensive and consumer-facing industries. Next steps for climate-related reporting
