40 maps that explain the world Maps can be a remarkably powerful tool for understanding the world and how it works, but they show only what you ask them to. So when we saw a post sweeping the Web titled "40 maps they didn't teach you in school," one of which happens to be a WorldViews original, I thought we might be able to contribute our own collection. Some of these are pretty nerdy, but I think they're no less fascinating and easily understandable. A majority are original to this blog, with others from a variety of sources. 5 Ways To Break The Ice At Networking Events Networking is not about how many resumes or business cards you hand out, but how you establish rapport and build a relationship that can lead to opportunities. Attending a networking event is only the beginning of the networking process. Effective networking takes time and builds lasting relationships where both parties can help one another. How 'venture builders' are changing the startup model If you haven’t yet heard of venture-builders — also called tech studios, startup factories, or venture production studios — let me introduce them to you: They’re organizations that build companies using their own ideas and resources. Unlike incubators and accelerators, venture builders don’t take any applications, nor do they run any sort of competitive program that culminates in a Demo Day. Instead, they pull business ideas from within their own network of resources and assign internal teams to develop them (engineers, advisors, business developers, sales managers, etc.). You’ll want to get used to the idea because we’re going to see a lot more venture-building organizations emerging. Venture builders develop many systems, models, or projects at once and then build separate companies around the most promising ones by assigning operational resources and capital to those portfolio companies.

To Jeff Bezos of Amazon, your personal brand is what people say about you when you aren’t in the room. I believe the personal brand is the intersection of what you’re great at, what you aspire to be and who you really are.

Forbidden acts never justified by “goodness” of intention The Fatwa on Terrorism & Suicide Bombings deals comprehensively with the core arguments that terrorists use and their tendencies to misuse Islamic teachings to defend their wrong actions. The Fatwa on Terrorism contains clear-cut rebuttals of the standard arguments made by the terrorists and goes as far as declaring those who commit terrorist acts disbelievers. The Fatwa on Terrorism clearly explains how terrorists such as the likes of Mujaahid Abu Hamza and Ismail Ibn Abdullah (formerly Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale) have nothing to do with Islam or its peaceful teachings nor can their actions be defended by using any verses of the Qur’an.
