Hi Hat Cupcakes

Hi Hat Cupcakes
I did it. I finally made them. Hi Hat Cupcakes have consumed my cupcake thoughts since I first saw their tall chocolate dipped tops online after I started blogging. But, I have to tell you, I’ve been nervous to make them. They scare me. I knew for sure I would screw them up and end up with a melted mess. But this weekend, I tried them. So I decided to use the only recipe I remembered seeing. > Update: I just realized this recipe is also from the book, Cupcakes! Chopped chocolate. But even better with the frosting. If I had paid attention to the directions beforehand I don’t know if I would have been as eager to get started. 12 minutes later and a candy thermometer in check to make sure the frosting formed stiff peaks at the right temperature. Actually, it never made it to just the right temp, but after 12 minutes… I was over holding the hand mixer. So I took a leap of faith it would work and piped it on the cupcakes… as tall as I could get it. One bag of semi-sweet chocolate. Tasty. More…

Strawberry Champagne Ruffle Cake for a Virtual Baby Shower – Cook Like a Champion Without a doubt, one of the most rewarding things about food blogging is all the amazing friends I’ve made along the way. Even though we’ve never met in person, I am so thankful to have made such wonderful friends, and I hope we’ll all have the chance to meet someday. I hate that we’re spread all over the country because I know we would all have a fabulous time together. Nutella Cinnamon Rolls May 10, 2011 | Print | E-mail | Filed under bread, nutella There are some days that I just lose my appetite. It might be because of my mood, or that nothing sounds good, or that I’m in a food rut again and need to spice things up a bit. When my appetite comes back though, what I’m inevitably craving is some sort of comfort food. Yesterday happened to be one of those days, and by the end of the day all I could think about was a warm cinnamon roll fresh from the oven.

Molten Lava Cakes I love these little babies. Surprisingly, this has been the first time I’ve ever made them myself. While preparing these Chocolate Lava Cakes I learned that they are super-fun to make. They are also surprising. Strawberry & Chocolate Nachos I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: sometimes the best creations are the ones you don’t set out to create! This might be my new favorite thing. It’s the perfect easy, throw-together, family style dessert for summer. Easy Homemade Ice Cream without a Machine July is National Ice Cream month, and I’m so excited to show you how making your own homemade ice cream is easier than you may think! No ice cream maker? No problem. Out of rock salt? Don’t need it!

chocolate peanut butter cake Alex’s birthday was this past weekend and in case you are new here, let me give you a loose outline of a Standard Dessert Alex Politely Requests: Chocolate. Chocolate with chocolate. Chocolate with caramel. Chocolate with toffee. Nutella lava cookies Wednesday, June 1, 2011 I love lava cakes. For a while now I’ve had this idea playing in my mind to create lava cookies. I tried making nutella lava cookies before, but they didn’t come out exactly as I’d hoped, so I wanted to attempt it again. I took a chocolate cookie recipe that I love, which is thick and sturdy and put some nutella in the middle of the cookie dough. These came out great. Caramel Apple Cupcakes September is finally here and all I can think about are all of the apple recipes I want to dig into. I’ve already lit my fall candles to get in the mood since we kind of have to fake the seasons over here in Florida. These caramel apple cupcakes smelled divine baking in the oven!

sweet saturday: one minute peanut butter cake Picture this scene: it’s 8:30 in the evening. The sky is just starting to get dark outside your living room window. You ate a delicious, healthy and veggie-filled dinner a few hours ago and now you are ready to sit down to the most recent episode of So You Think You Can Dance and dive into a decadent plate of dessert. Oh wait, you have no dessert. No chocolate, no cookies, no ice cream, no cake, no pie, not even a Jordan almond. Orange Crunch Cake The restaurant, The Bubble Room (warning if you click on the link: get ready for some very festive music!) on Captiva Island in Florida is known for it’s outrageousness and it looks like it’s on steroids, rainbow colored steroids. All throughout The Bubble Room there’s tons of memorabilia plastered on the walls and twinkling Christmas lights hanging everywhere.
