60 insane cloud formations from around the world [PICs] Cloud varieties go way beyond the cumulus, stratus, and cirrus we learn about in elementary school. Check out these wild natural phenomena. Rune Guneriussen These dream-like installations are assembled, and then photographed by Norwegian artist Rune Guneriussen. Just imagine being out for a walk in Norway’s countryside, turning a corner and discovering a magical forest of lamps, a tangle of chairs, or a river of books. Sadly, once the photograph is taken, Rune removes the installation, the only proof of it’s existence being these images… sort of like waking up from an amazing dream that you could have sworn was real. As an artist, I believe strongly that art itself should be questioning and bewildering as opposed to patronising and restricting. As opposed to the current fashion I do not want to dictate a way to the understanding of my art, but rather indicate a path to understanding a story. Rune Guneriussen’s site
Future Collision Andromeda The hypernova of Eta Carinae is affecting our region of the galaxy Eta Carinae is among the largest, most volatile stars in our galaxy. AFP Hall of Fame « AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com No babies were hurt in the making of this photo. Here is Dad’s story: We had just finished up a family reunion in California and decided to do some family pictures on the final day. Before this photo was taken, we had just spent time getting about 18 people (many of whom were kids) to pose for a large family picture. Those with young ‘uns can attest that sitting still and smiling for the camera are like torture to a 4 year old, so by the time we had finished with the large family we had used up all of my 4 year old’s good graces and he was in a sour mood. So we attempt to take pictures of just our family and things are going south quickly.

In this series entitled Surreal-ity, photographer Kylie Woon brings those mind-bending stories and dreamy scenes to life. Conveying all kinds of dramatic emotions, including loss, fear, anger, and restlessness, Woon creates self-portraits where she floats, flips, and flies across each frame in seemingly impossible arrangements. The artist says her life has always flip-flopped between being obsessed with the small things in life versus being able to see the bigger, grander picture. She compares her experiences to photography and the idea of being zoomed in and zoomed out. She says, "When I am zoomed in, everything in the universe is dark except for the inside of my head.
64 Things Every Geek Should Know - LaptopLogic.com The term ‘geek’, once used to label a circus freak, has morphed in meaning over the years. What was once an unusual profession transferred into a word indicating social awkwardness. As time has gone on, the word has yet again morphed to indicate a new type of individual: someone who is obsessive over one (or more) particular subjects, whether it be science, photography, electronics, computers, media, or any other field. A geek is one who isn’t satisfied knowing only the surface facts, but instead has a visceral desire to learn everything possible about a particular subject. 11 Pencil Vs.
