Little Red Infinity Dress Tutorial *Tutorial made by Melissa @ Sew Like My Mom for her win during the Red Week challenge.* I made this little dress in about 3 hours and for under $20! I used some soft polyester knit I found at Hancock Fabrics for $4.99/yard. I got 5 yards, and with my 40% off 1 cut of fabric coupon, my total came to $15.87 after tax!!

Neck tie School Bag Got lots of neck ties lying around? Use them to make this unique bag! What you need Okay, you'll need a bunch of ties. How to fold an adorable towel bunny while you wait for your meal One of the greatest things about going out to a restaurant in Japan is the oshibori, hot or cold towels given to patrons to clean their hands before a meal. We don’t know why more countries haven’t adopted this practice; there’s nothing better than being greeted by a soothing oshibori before a delicious meal. But once you’ve wiped your hands off (…and face for some people), that mini towel just sits around at the table looking like a soggy rag.

Tutorial: This Mama's Fab Travel Chair This fabric “high chair” is perfect for away from home dining. It’s no 5-point harness, but it helps secure them in the chair. This one was made from an old thrifted, quilted ottoman cover Gather materials: Quilted fabric for outer*, cotton broadcloth or similar for lining, Velcro. *Batting combined with broadcloth can also be used. Silk-Dyed Eggs {aka TIE-Dyed!} I posted this tutorial a few years ago and it has become somewhat of a tradition to bring it back every year! One of our family Easter traditions is dying eggs with pieces of silk. I saw a cute lady show Martha how to do it a few years ago and I ran upstairs right then to steal a tie! It’s way cooler than those cups of neon liquid that end up all over your clothes, your furniture and your hands plus it gives you an excuse to rid a man’s closet of ugly ties.

DIY Cake Stand It seems as though all sorts of cute party decorating items are “all the rage” these days–cake stands, tiered plates, apothecary jars, hurricane lamps, etc. I love these items, but there is often one big problem! The price tag. Well, thanks to one of the crafty moms in my MOPS group, I now can make my own cake stands for less than $3! Now that is a price that I like. Sock Monkey Tutorial Sock Monkey Tutorial Everything you need to make a sock monkey: pair of socks, sewing machine, buttons (just two for the eyes), ruler (or straight edge of some kind), pen, scissors, stuffing, pins, needle, and thread. I made these embroidered cards so long ago and then just tucked them away in a drawer to be forgotten about. What a shame! I thought these cards would make a great DIY for the blog because they're easy and fun to make, and you probably have all the supplies on hand already. If you're anything like me you have waaaaay too many colors of embroidery floss tucked away somewhere.

A Herd of Snugglesauruses I recently made some new dinos for the shop! They are similar to an item I used to make, but these are even better... they have an improved design, stand up by themselves, and have two rows of adorable ruffles down their back! D*S diy projects for ladies’ home journal A few months ago, we were asked to contribute some holiday gift DIY projects to the December/January issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. The magazine has just hit stands, and our projects are now available to view on their website! Some of these are variations on past projects, while others — like the vintage book tablet case and the coiled rope bowls — are brand spankin’ new. If you have any free time over the holiday weekend, you should definitely consider these projects for getting a jump start on your holiday gift-making. My cat was so pissed that he couldn’t sit on the fish-shaped cat scratch pad before it went off to be photographed that I know what I’ll be working on next :) Click here to view the projects and full instructions. Have a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday everyone!
