Upgrade Your MacBook Pro's Hard Drive - The First Steps - How To by ExtremeTech It might seem incredible, but today Apple only sells a single MacBook Pro that still uses a hard drive. As of Apple’s update in October, all of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros — aside from the single non-Retina display model — have all moved over to solid-state storage. And that lone 13-inch MBP, with its 500GB 5400 RPM hard drive is clearly not long for this world. At $1200 the last-man-standing non-Retina Pro is only $100 cheaper than the next model up and it lacks both the Flash storage and high-resolution display that make the new MBP so good. If you’re here you’re probably not in the market for a new MacBook Pro. Even if you wouldn’t think twice about cracking open a desktop to drop in a new video card, you might pass on doing anything with a laptop — their cramped interiors and specialized hardware are instant turn-offs. Don’t let that stand in your way. Since this story first ran in 2007(!) Upgrading the MacBook Pro’s hard drive
Go (game) Go originated in ancient China. Archaeological evidence shows that the early game was played on a board with a 17×17 grid, but by the time the game had spread to Korea and Japan, in about the 5th and 7th centuries AD respectively, boards with a 19×19 grid had become standard. The first 60 moves of a Go game, animated. This particular game quickly developed into a complicated fight in the lower left and bottom. Go is an adversarial game with the objective of surrounding more territory than one's opponent. As the game progresses, the board gets divided up into areas of territory, as outlined by groups of stones. The four liberties (adjacent empty points) of a single black stone (A), as White reduces those liberties by one (B, C, and D). A basic principle of Go is that stones must have at least one "liberty" (Chinese: 氣) to remain on the board. In the opening stages of the game, players typically establish positions (or "bases") in the corners and around the sides of the board.
Google Reader (1000+) Removing Stains: The Basics - Martha Stewart Home & Garden There is no single technique or product that takes care of every spot and spill, but with the right information and supplies, many stains can be removed. If a garment isn't washable, the safest thing is to take it to a dry cleaner, although there are some treatments you can try at home (see Stain First Aid Chart). If you stain a washable garment, the golden rule is: Act quickly. For a liquid, gently blot up any excess with a white cloth, working from the outside in, so you don't spread the stain; do not press hard or rub. Sprinkle an oily stain with cornstarch. If it's a dollop of something, like ketchup, scoop off any excess. Textile and stain experts recommend certain stain removal supplies for each problem. Always test stain-removal techniques in a hidden area of the garment, like an inside seam. Within a "portfolio" tool that only tracks stocks, investing "socially" across a large cross-section of the market should actually push your returns (and risks) toward the mean market returns, and theoretically result in a stock portfolio yielding market returns and bearing only systemic risk. Most portfolios are basically aiming for this anyways, and use the allocation across asset classes to meet varying risk profiles (basically, "I want my stocks to perform like stocks, and my bonds to perform like bonds, and my metals to perform like metals, and I'll just change my allocation between these broad classes when I need more protection or more risk.") If it tracked the wide variety of asset classes (not just securitized), you might be right... but within the stock allocation of your portfolio, you could probably do worse than following the aggregate moves of ten thousand strangers.
