Images in Cinder [Tutorials, Cinder] by @factoryfactory with images by @flight404 Written by Joshua Noble, with images by Robert Hodgin In this little tutorial we’re going to follow a path that starts with a file on the filesystem, say a PNG file, and ends with the image being drawn to the screen using OpenGL. // probably in your App's setup() method gl::Texture texture = loadImage( "image.jpg" ); // and in your App's draw() gl::draw( texture ); Even though that code simply loads and draws an image, there’s actually quite a lot going on behind the scenes. The first line creates a new OpenGL texture from the result of loadImage(). This function is used for loading the various image formats Cinder knows about, and can be used to read from files, URLs, resources and other sources, as we’ll see later.
The Colette Patterns Pants Fitting Cheatsheet Fitting pants is a bit tricky, let’s face it. There are a lot of differences among women in the areas between waist and ankles. You’ve got hips and waists of different sizes, butts of various shapes, legs of all different lengths, thighs that bulge in different ways, calves that may or may not be muscular. And then there are the differences in posture! With all these factors, no wonder pants fitting seems so mystifying. And no wonder it’s so hard for most of us to find a good pair of RTW pants that fit. Permaculture Fast Track Special - Permaculture Design Course “The instructors here are top notch. Sleeves, Necklines, Collars, and Dress Types I’ve recently ventured into drafting patterns starting from my basic bodice and skirt sloper. The fit issues are minimal, since the sloper is made skin tight. Design ease is added as you go along. I found these reference pictures useful for ideas on basic sleeves, necklines, collars, and dress types. Instructions: How to Spring Clean With Nontoxic Home-made Products - Environment - GOOD Tackling spring-cleaning this month? Us too. But there's no sense in doing it if you're going to create a big mess for the planet (and your body) in the process. Cleaning up your act isn't as straightforward as running to the pharmacy and picking out a bottle covered in claims of eco-friendliness and biodegradability, however.

Olive Oil Benefits &150; Olive Oil Uses &150; Olive Oils - The Da... Olive oil is more than a cartoon character, historic symbol of peace and glory or food staple of the much-vaunted Mediterranean diet. It is actually tremendously useful stuff, finding applications in personal care, home improvement, green cleaning, natural remedies and other areas. It's long been reported that there are a number of health benefits of olive oil. As a foodstuff it has a high concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids, which studies show promote "good" cholesterol (HDL) while lowering "bad" cholesterol (LDL). Olive oil is also known to be gentle on the digestive system, and even may help prevent gallstones and soothe ulcers. Good quality olive oil contains valuable vitamins and nutrients, and it is loaded with antioxidants, which many believe help protect the body from cancer.

Powerful Photos from Rio Show Why So Many Brazilians Hate World Cup Mario Tama, a staff photographer for Getty Images, first caught my eye a few months ago with this disturbing photo above taken in what the caption calls Rio de Janeiro’s “Cracolandia” (Read: “Crackland” or “Dope City”). In addition to the complexity of his layered compositions, the ‘daily life’ photos he’s been filing from Brazil ever since are compeling for their potential to offer a counterpoint to the state and corporate sponsor-sanctioned glossy imagery of the World Cup, which opens today. There’s a common claim that bringing these types of international sporting events to underdeveloped regions also brings a flood of tourists, lasting infrastructure and a boom to the local economy reaching even the lowly street peddler — a touchstone of let-us-piss-on-you trickle down economics. This was in part the claim made for building a ridiculous $50 billion winter resort in sub-tropical Sochi for the 2014 Olympics, which likely will never be filled anywhere near capacity ever again.
