Caramel Apple Pie Cupcakes « The Craving Chronicles
It seems like once the weather cools down everyone wants to jump right into pumpkin season. Don’t get me wrong, I love pumpkin as much as anyone else, but to me September is apple season. I was thinking about how often apples get overshadowed by pumpkin a few weeks ago when my husband asked me if I wanted to attend a dinner party with some of his coworkers. “Hrmmm. Maybe…”, I said. “They asked us to bring some kind of food to share”, he said. It took me a while to decide on an approach for these cupcakes. Ultimately, I decided the best way to pack that punch of apple flavor into a cupcake was to use apple pie filling. I was apprehensive while putting these cupcakes together. In the end, they didn’t. They tasted approximately a million times better than I had imagined. I was hoping for good cupcakes, but these were amazing. sweet saturday: one minute peanut butter cake Picture this scene: it’s 8:30 in the evening. The sky is just starting to get dark outside your living room window. You ate a delicious, healthy and veggie-filled dinner a few hours ago and now you are ready to sit down to the most recent episode of So You Think You Can Dance and dive into a decadent plate of dessert. Oh wait, you have no dessert. No chocolate, no cookies, no ice cream, no cake, no pie, not even a Jordan almond. What’s a girl to do? English Muffin Almond French Toast-Breakfast for Dinner — Eat Laugh Surf Busy days are looming ahead of us. Holiday break is fast approaching, which means the boys are trying to get through double the amount of work. Papers and science projects need to be completed, along with the rest of our Christmas shopping. Thursday is our deadline to have everything all wrapped up. After that school is out and the boys will be bouncing around with joy.

Kiss Pies Only 5 days before Christmas! Woohoo, is everyone ready? What a great time of year. This really is the best…..even if I feel like I’ve gained 50 lbs the last month! Mini Peanut Butter and Nutella Cheesecakes 28 Dec 2011 One of the perks of being a student (and right now as I’m in the middle of college applications and interviews there don’t seem to be many) is that you get a long Christmas break. This is what I’ve done since Christmas:

Strawberry Champagne Ruffle Cake for a Virtual Baby Shower – Cook Like a Champion Without a doubt, one of the most rewarding things about food blogging is all the amazing friends I’ve made along the way. Even though we’ve never met in person, I am so thankful to have made such wonderful friends, and I hope we’ll all have the chance to meet someday. I hate that we’re spread all over the country because I know we would all have a fabulous time together. There are some things that simply have to be celebrated with friends, no matter the distance between them.

Emergency Small Batch Brownies Do you ever have days where you feel like you need a brownie so badly that you’re sure the sky will fall, continents will crumble, and gravity will release it’s sticky grip and throw us all into chaos if you don’t get one? No? Me neither. In unrelated news, here’s a recipe for making just 2 or 3-ish brownies.

Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Cake Cheesecake Last week I got an email from a kind reader asking if I would consider developing a recipe for one of her favorite "factory-made" desserts. The minute I clicked the link she provided, I knew I wanted to make her cheesecake dreams come true. I had concerns about how this cake would translate to real world baking. No doubt it is mass-produced with industrial equipment since it is sold nationwide at a popular restaurant chain. I knew I would have to simplify each of the recipe's elements and keep the baking equipment simple. With its many layers, the recipe I came up with is time consuming, but it will not be difficult for the home baker to execute. How To Make Croissants [Chocolate Croissants, Pumpkin Spice Croissants, and Cinnamon Sugar Croissants] I hope you’re ready to see a billion underexposed photos of the same exact dough over and over and over again. Please say yes, because you will be rewarded with this. This was a… project.

3 Ingredients, 60 Seconds: Gooey Chocolate Mug Cake It’s Monday. You don’t have time for chocolate, right? Wrongo. No matter what time of the day your chocolate craving hits, you’re just 55 seconds and three ingredients away from your own, personal mug full of the richest, chocolatiest hunk of cake ever. Created one afternoon while in the fits of a crazy-mad chocolate craving, I attempted to mix togther the three vital ingredients for my favorite Chocolate Lava Cake, popped it in the microwave, and had my kids drooling all the ‘miracle mug’ one minute later.

Hi Hat Cupcakes I did it. I finally made them. Hi Hat Cupcakes have consumed my cupcake thoughts since I first saw their tall chocolate dipped tops online after I started blogging. But, I have to tell you, I’ve been nervous to make them. They scare me. I knew for sure I would screw them up and end up with a melted mess. The Best Caramel Cake I've often tasted caramel cake on road trips in the southern states and they are almost always look very rustic and homemade, often with the caramel just poured over the cake in a simple but appealing presentation. I wanted to make one that looked a little more polished to maybe use as a celebration cake for a birthday or anniversary dinner. This one worked out quite well. The moist vanilla cake gets filled with layers of homemade caramel sauce, then covered in a caramel buttercream frosting and drizzled with a little more caramel sauce.

Hot cocoa cookies I am a teeny bit obsessed with the cookies from the most recent issue of EveryDay with Rachael Ray magazine. This recipe is the second of many cookie recipes on my list to make this holiday season. Sweets are taking over my life! Just ask my coworkers. They get my leftovers, and I think they are starting to resent the way I am forcing them to eat sinful treats. Web’s Best: Desserts for Dudes For some inexplicable reason, dessert has never been seen as a man’s game. Yeah, we’ll eat it, but baking never seemed to be nearly as manly as tossing a steak on the grill. If you’re ready to put your ego aside (at least partially) here are some desserts you could whip up that have a bit of macho in them. Chocolate-Dipped Beer Marshmallows “Back the truck up, did you say, ‘Beer marshmallows?’” Yes, we did my good man.

Citrus Love-Lemon Posset, Langues de Chats & Lime Meltaways Posted by Grace Massa Langlois on Monday, 3rd May 2010 After the last couple of weeks of sweets I was looking for something tangy and refreshing, Lemon Posset with Langues de Chats and a few batches of Lime Meltaways definitely fulfilled my craving. I thought for a change I would turn to my vast selection of cookbooks for inspiration. I am a little embarrassed to say that I usually tend to turn to the Internet in search of recipes rather than take a few minutes and go through all the beautiful cookbooks that I have.
