Introduction to the Electromagnetic Spectrum - Mission:Science When you tune your radio, watch TV, send a text message, or pop popcorn in a microwave oven, you are using electromagnetic energy. You depend on this energy every hour of every day. Without it, the world you know could not exist. Electromagnetic energy travels in waves and spans a broad spectrum from very long radio waves to very short gamma rays. The human eye can only detect only a small portion of this spectrum called visible light.

Age of Distraction: Why It’s Crucial for Students to Learn to Focus Digital classroom tools like computers, tablets and smartphones offer exciting opportunities to deepen learning through creativity, collaboration and connection, but those very devices can also be distracting to students. Similarly, parents complain that when students are required to complete homework assignments online, it’s a challenge for students to remain on task. The ubiquity of digital technology in all realms of life isn’t going away, but if students don’t learn how to concentrate and shut out distractions, research shows they’ll have a much harder time succeeding in almost every area.

Elementary Calculus This is a calculus textbook at the college Freshman level based on Abraham Robinson's infinitesimals, which date from 1960. Robinson's modern infinitesimal approach puts the intuitive ideas of the founders of the calculus on a mathematically sound footing, and is easier for beginners to understand than the more common approach via limits. The First Edition of this book was published in 1976, and a revised Second Edition was published in 1986, both by Prindle, Weber & Schmidt. The book is now out of print and the copyright has been returned to me as the author. I have decided (as of September 2002) to make the book available for free in electronic form at this site.

Raising Your Daughter To Be A Leader Parenting Teenage Girls is a new magazine for parents of teen and preteen girls. We chose our magazine’s tagline to be “Raising Tomorrow’s Leaders,” because most parents do not just want to survive their daughter’s teenage years without a catastrophe, they want to raise confident and successful daughters that become leaders. But what does it mean to be a leader and how do we raise our daughters so that they become conscious leaders? We all have different ideas of what a leader is and I don’t mean “leader” in the narrow, traditional sense of the word, such as a government or a religious leader.
