Anti-Portfolio - Bessemer Venture Partners Bessemer Venture Partners is perhaps the nation's oldest venture capital firm, carrying on an unbroken practice of venture capital investing that stretches back to 1911. This long and storied history has afforded our firm an unparalleled number of opportunities to completely screw up. Over the course of our history, we did invest in a wig company, a french-fry company, and the Lahaina, Ka'anapali & Pacific Railroad. Our reasons for passing on these investments varied. Whatever the reason, we would like to honor these companies -- our "anti-portfolio" -- whose phenomenal success inspires us in our ongoing endeavors to build growing businesses.

Ideally this goes down as such: You really care about fashion so you search for fashion in the Pearltrees search box and are confronted with really elaborate visual cluster displays of fashion blogs, each blog its own “pearl.” You decide that anyone who likes The Sartorialist is probably a good egg and click on the puzzle piece in the Pearltrees detail window in order to ask if you can join the team. What does INRIA do for SMEs? - INRIA & SMEs - Innovation - INRIA - The french National Institute for Research in Computer science and Control What role do SMEs play in Inria's strategy? Eric Horlait: Technology transfer at a business involves the integration of a result of public research into its product or service offering. Inria's priority in this matter is to support the growth of SMEs and medium-size companies through technology transfers, whether they stem from Inria or not. Why this priority? Eric Horlait: It starts with the acknowledgement of the role of SMEs in the knowledge economy: these companies are drivers of innovation in the digital industry and, because of their agility, particularly effective vehicles of technology transfers for the purposes of enriching their commercial offering and increased competitiveness. What does Inria offer to SMEs? What are these tools to support technology transfers to SMEs? Eric Horlait: Inria first relies heavily on two public plans that seem key to us. However, Inria has also deployed its own tools to the various links of the technology transfer chain.
