Prawn and Scallop Ceviche with Heirloom Tomatoes When I am looking for fresh and delicious recipes that focus on health and nutrition as well as culinary wonderment, I turn to Chef David Wells or Grandma Dave. I’ve known Dave more than twenty years and have enjoyed every moment of our friendship. During those years, I’ve watched in awe as he’s cultivated his passion as a chef into a business that also focuses on assisting people with any level of nutritional concern – from losing a few pounds to terminal cancer. Bottom line, he’s one of those incredible people who just makes your life better by knowing him. As a chef, his resume is packed with impressive accomplishments . . . from his education and instruction at the nation’s finest culinary academies to his days as a personal chef for celebrities and powerhouse CEO’s.

There’s a little something for everyone: the foodies, the purists, the ones who prefer frozen yogurt, the ones who prefer a little alcohol, everyone. Tweny-five options to be exact. The post I did last summer on the cold guys was one of DC’s most viewed ever, so I thought you’d all be up for another round – was I right?

60 Second Chocolate Chip Cookie A la Mode I had so much fun developing this recipe. Talk about kinda dangerous though. This baby is baked in 60 seconds, no lie!! The cookie dough recipe is prepared right in your ramekin, so we are also talking about minimal dishes. Win win, right? You know those fabulous pizzookie’s you order at certain restaurants?

Meatballs with lettuce in tomato sauce Lettuce in meatballs? I know it sounds weird, but it really works. Tons of chopped lettuce and onion in the meatball mixture gives them an interesting crunchy-crispy texture when freshly cooked. Pumpkin Cupcakes With Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting I couldn't believe my eyes this week when I saw the ad for Pumpkin Spice Lattes in my local Starbucks. Pumpkin Spice already? But there's still a little more summer to be had, isn't there? sweet saturday: one minute peanut butter cake Picture this scene: it’s 8:30 in the evening. The sky is just starting to get dark outside your living room window. You ate a delicious, healthy and veggie-filled dinner a few hours ago and now you are ready to sit down to the most recent episode of So You Think You Can Dance and dive into a decadent plate of dessert. Oh wait, you have no dessert. No chocolate, no cookies, no ice cream, no cake, no pie, not even a Jordan almond.

How To Make Perfect Brownies I’ve tried lots of brownie recipes: Boxes, scratch, frosted, plain, nuts, chips, fudge … Each of them has something to like, but depending on my mood I might want a change of pace. Not any more. My wife found this recipe, and it’s perfect. Perfect Iced Coffee Iced coffee is my life. When I wake up, often around the time party animals on the west coast are just heading home, I start each day not with a cup of freshly brewed hot java, but with a tall, blessed glass of creamy iced coffee in a glass. I’ve been an iced coffee freakazoid for years and years. To say I couldn’t live without it is an understatement.

Chana Dal with Fennel and Almonds Do you know about chana dal? I didn’t myself until last year, when I was doing research on diabetic-friendly foods (for myself, when I was hospitalized with a bad infection and diagnosed with pre-diabetes, as well as my father, who has the full blown kind). Chana dal, also called cholar dal or Bengal gram dal, looks rather like yellow split peas, but it’s actually a form of chickpea (also called garbanzo, ceci).

Caramel Apple Cupcakes September is finally here and all I can think about are all of the apple recipes I want to dig into. I’ve already lit my fall candles to get in the mood since we kind of have to fake the seasons over here in Florida. These caramel apple cupcakes smelled divine baking in the oven!
