Ideas to Inspire Farr-Out Links to Learning " Blog Archive " Storytelli I just came across a new (to me) startup called Storybird. Storybird is a service that uses collaborative storytelling to connect two (or more) people. You can use the collaborative nature of this online storytelling application to create a Storybird in a round robin fashion by writing your own text and inserting pictures generously provided by a number of gifted illustrators/artists. Some of the things I especially like about Storybird include…. the ability to collaborate…great for bridging parents and their children.the ability to keep books private.the fact that collaboration does not equate to added chat features or public profiles (thank you Storybird).the fact that all Storybird books that are shared publicly are reviewed before appearing in the library.the marvelous talent shared by many of the artists/illustrators….Wow! With so much to like, I really struggled to come up with suggestions that might make this already great product even better.

SchoolWAX TV CLEO - Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online Calgaryscienceschool Grade: 5 Subject Area: Humanities, Digital Storytelling Two our of Grade 5 teachers are giving a presentation at the upcoming Alberta Social Studies Conference, October 16-18 in Lake Louise, Alberta. This presentation will focus on how to incorporate digital storytelling into the classroom, particularly where teachers want students to focus on understanding multiple perspectives and marginalized groups in history. When designing the work (in partnership with the Galileo Educational Network) the teachers used an online space called Intelligence Online, designed specifically for the planning of large-scale, inquiry-based projects. One of the benefits of IO is how it creates 'project pages' or publicly accessible websites that contain an overview of the project, as well as specific tasks, handouts, due dates, resources, and assessments. The design of this project contained two large pieces. Students were taught to use paper sticky notes to keep track of important events in their novels.

Discover the world's most endangered species Wildscreen's Arkive project was launched in 2003 and grew to become the world's biggest encyclopaedia of life on Earth. With the help of over 7,000 of the world’s best wildlife filmmakers and photographers, conservationists and scientists, Arkive.org featured multi-media fact-files for more than 16,000 endangered species. Freely accessible to everyone, over half a million people every month, from over 200 countries, used Arkive to learn and discover the wonders of the natural world. Since 2013 Wildscreen was unable to raise sufficient funds from trusts, foundations, corporates and individual donors to support the year-round costs of keeping Arkive online. Therefore, the charity had been using its reserves to keep the project online and was unable to fund any dedicated staff to maintain Arkive, let alone future-proof it, for over half a decade. Therefore, a very hard decision was made to take the www.arkive.org website offline in February 2019.
