Ten games that make you think about life At the start of this year, we decided to come up with a list of Flash casual games with a philosophical bent. To be honest, we struggled. After days of research, we could only find a handful of games that had the thought-provoking depth we were looking for. Our list (which you can view by clicking here) was therefore only five games long. Fast forward to now, and it is remarkable how much difference a few months can make. I Love My Classroom: Mystery Hero I know this picture has been floating around on Pinterest for a while now, and it's been on my Classroom Management page too... but I wanted to give it the importance that it deserved - front and center. This activity was simple, but it really helped my students to feel cared about. They grew in responsibility from it. I would watch them linger in front of their name, and show it to their friends who might have been absent the day they had been chosen. How it works in my classroom:Basically I have all the student numbers on ball pit balls in a big reusable grocery bag.

Heritage tourism In Victorian times, Britain was famous for producing things; it was known as ‘the workshop of the world’. I’m travelling to York to find out how this industrial past is still important for a newer industry: tourism. Before planes, trains and cars, this was one of the best ways to travel. Rivers and canals played a very important role during the Industrial Revolution. LearnEnglishTeens The Queen, and her family, are well-known worldwide. This is in part due to the influence of the British Empire; during the colonial era, many countries across the globe were under British rule. People often said that "the sun never sets on the British Empire" - this was because due to the expanse of the British Empire, the sun would always be shining on one of its territories. Whilst the British Empire has ceased to exist, the formation of the Commonwealth of Nations means that Queen Elizabeth 2nd is the monarch, or ruler, of countries besides just those that make up the United Kingdom. In the UK today, the British public tends to be rather fond of the Queen. Since most other European countries don't have a monarchy, we feel proud of ours.
