Fascinating Lamps by Calabarte

Fascinating Lamps by Calabarte
Calabarte is the pseudonym of a Polish artist named Przemek Krawczynski, whose art takes on a peculiar but incredibly beautiful form: cool lamps. The name itself is a portmanteau of two words – art (obviously), and calabash, the fruit that carries his imagination. The calabash is a bottle gourd originating in India, although Calabarte gets his supply from Senegal. Due to ancient domestication and usage, the bottle gourd has an incredibly tough outer shell. In the past, the gourd’s usage was defined mostly as a water container, due to having a tough, smooth shell with an ergonomic shape for handling, and natural buoyancy on water. Nevertheless, it’s edible both raw and cooked, and used in various cuisines. Due to the combination of dark, thick material with a light source within, the primary art of his work, however, shines in the dark. When he’s not making cool lamps, Calabarte partakes in a number of physical activities, enjoying life through sports, travelling, and making music.

Fajardo Article by Hyathiz I love my dogs, reading books, and taking great pictures with my battered but still functional digital camera. Taking great pictures with a high end camera is almost too easy, producing fantastic images with an outdated one is an accomplishment by itself.

How To Draw A Wave I remember all throughout my years in school getting super bored during a class and then dozing off only to think about perfect peeling right handers or nicely shaped a-frames. I’d snap out of it and draw some rendition of it on a notebook. I’m not the most artistic person so the sketch would never look as good as I pictured it. If only I had this guide by surfer and artist Shannon McIntyre back then. click for a larger version For more posts like this, check out our Art page.

Man Cave “For 10 years I was dreaming about it, for five years I was looking for a spot for it, for two years working on it, for another two years building it, and finally here it is,” said Alexandre de Betak in an interview with T Magazine about his new home located in a small coastal village in the Tramuntana region of Majorca. He is very much inspired by 70′s architecture, probably because that is what he grew up with. 42 year-old Betak is a renowned events producer, art director and designer whose work includes fashion shows and extravaganzas for clients from Dior to Rodarte to Tiffany. How To Draw A Wave This art tutorial, kindly donated by surfing comic strip illustrator and surf artist Bob Penuelas covers how to draw a wave the Wilbur Kookmeyer way! If you're like me, then you've probably spent a lot of time in high school class daydreaming and doodling a thousand perfect cartoon waves in your notebook. It's safe to say that ninety percent of us surfers have a habit of scribbling perfect waves whenever a pencil is in our hands. Hopefully the following pointers will help you change your throw-away wave doodles into actual compelling artwork that you want to keep forever.

Stone fields by Novastructura This project has started from a search for a 3d-objects optimal packing algorithm over a surface, but evolved in something rather different. I love the work by Richard Long, the way he fills lonely landscapes with arcaic stones patterns. My version is a poor and lazy version of that eroic approach.. FlexibleLove - the extraordinary expanding chair It’s a little embarrassing when a crowd of friends descend on your doorstep and you don’t have enough chairs to seat them all. However, if you have a FlexibleLove chair - you won’t have anything to worry about. This fabulously functional chair = is constructed almost entirely from recycled cardboard and recycled wood waste and can expand to hold up to16 people! Read on, you’ll be amazed at what this single piece of furniture can do… At first glance, the design of the FlexibleLove chair seems quite simple, but once you see how quickly and easily it can be expanded and contracted, you really appreciate the complexity of its design.
