SensiCardiac for iPhone Supercharges Electronic Stethoscopes (w/video) 5inShare SensiCardiac out of Stellenbosch, South Africa has released a free iPhone app that turns your now old and boring electronic stethoscope into a powerful auscultation recording and analysis system.

SensiCardiac for iPhone Supercharges Electronic Stethoscopes (w/video)

Simply plugin your stethoscope (SensiCardiac recommends ThinkLabs devices, while Littmann 3200 is not compatible) into the headphone jack, launch the app, and you can quickly record and store those recordings for further review and for sharing them with colleagues. The company claims that the app is able to “differentiate between Class I and Class III echo-cardiography referrals,” whatever that means. Annotations can be made on a model heart within the app to note which sounds correlate with various possible conditions. For a more careful review of the murmurs, the audio can be slowed down to half speed with a press of a button. The app can export PDF reports of the exams, including charted recordings, notes, and patient information. Products. It is a commonly recognized treatment to reduce pain, reduce or stop swelling, slow the process of inflammation of acute injuries, sub-acute injury and post-operative tissue disruption. Cold therapy covers a vast array of applications including ice bags, ice baths/whirlpools, frozen gel packs, frozen vegetables and continuous circulating cold therapy units. The circulating cold therapy units are predominantly used for post-operative use and are the most comfortable and convenient method for most patients. The application of cold is used to reduce tissue temperature which helps reduce acute stages of inflammation and associated swelling, reduce muscle spasm, as well as pain without the secondary effects of narcotics such as nausea, dizziness and constipation.

Alarm clocks in general are insensitive to our sleep cycles. The WakeMate from Perfect Third, Inc. is a new device that attempts to sound reveille just when you’re most conscious. Essentially, it’s a wrist-worn accelerometer that measures how much you’re moving, and it sends the data to a cell phone. You set a 20 minute time frame when you’d like to wake up, and the device triggers the alarm within that period when it detects significant movement.

FDA Approves Kerecis’s Fish Skin Technology to Heal Wounds

MariGen Omega3 products are decellularized fish skin sheets that have had cells and antigenic materials extracted. These fish skin sheets are similar to human skin, except that they contain Omega3 polyunsaturated fatty acids that are thought to promote wound healing along with other health benefits. According to company’s press release, each year close to 6 million people in the US suffer from chronic wounds due to diabetes or other circulatory problems, and delayed healing of these wounds can lead to severe consequences such as amputation or even death. Chronic wounds unlike regular wounds do not follow the normal wound healing process of inflammation followed by proliferation followed by remodeling.
