Jimmy Carter And Mary Robinson Call Gaza Offensive 'Humanitarian Catastrophe', Demand 'War Crimes' Be Investigated. NEW YORK -- Former US President Jimmy Carter has decried Israel’s recent offensive against Gaza, saying Netanyahu’s state has created a “humanitarian catastrophe” and that "war crimes" against civilians on both sides should be investigated.

In a joint comment piece penned with Ireland’s former President Mary Robinson, Carter, 89, argues that there is no “humane or legal justification” for Israel’s actions in the beleaguered Strip, stating that the IDF has “pulverized large parts of Gaza including thousands of homes, schools and hospitals”. Writing in Foreign Policy, the former president said: “There is never an excuse for deliberate attacks on civilians in conflict.

These are war crimes. This is true for both sides. Hamas's indiscriminate targeting of Israeli civilians is equally unacceptable.” Carter called for the US and EU to recognise Hamas.

"Last week when President Obama was asked about the Sterling episode, he said, 'When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, just let them talk.' But Sterling didn't advertise," Maher explained, "He was bugged. And while he may not be worth defending, the 4th Amendment is. "

'War Drags You Out,' Saint Hoax Series, Showcases World Leaders In Drag

Called "War Drags You Out," the project consists of a series of digital illustrations that depict prominent world leaders in drag. However, these aren't just easy targets like George W. Bush. Saint Hoax, whose identity is unknown, has taken on figures in the vein of the King of Saudi Arabia and Vladimir Putin -- and subsequently received death threats. HuffPost Gay Voices chatted with Saint Hoax today in order to better understand the "War Drags You Out" series and the politics of this work. "Madame O' Sane" "I began working on the "War Drags You Out" series last June.

"I received over 70 [death] threats in my inbox deterring me from showcasing the [original] U.S.A.M.A [Osama Bin Laden] painting. "Hitleria Hysteria" "I never heard from him after that, and the art show failed to happen. Lester Minto performed abortions at Reproductive Services of Harlingen, a modest, one-story building in Harlingen, Texas right next door to the regional branch of the state Department of Health. Ever since October 31, however, he has been barred from performing abortions. Minto lacks local hospital admitting privileges, which Texas's new abortion law — H.B. 2 — requires all abortion providers to have. On January 6, Planned Parenthood challenged the admitting-privileges requirement of H.B. 2 before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and a decision is expected any day. Meet Jonathan Mayer, The Stanford Ph.D. Student Who's Reverse-Engineering The NSA. The National Security Agency is not, as a matter of policy, very forthcoming.

Even eight months after Edward Snowden's revelations began tumbling out, the agency projects a purposeful murkiness. But Snowden isn't the only young computer whiz lifting the NSA's shroud of secrecy. Jonathan Mayer, a 27-year-old Stanford Ph.D. student whose research on the agency's capabilities is so singular it was cited in the White House NSA review panel report, is building "a science of surveillance" to piece together what the government is doing in our name.

Curly haired and affable, Mayer met up with HuffPost in December at a bustling coffee shop in San Francisco's Mission District. Mayer was previously well-known in tech circles for the work he began as a Princeton undergraduate on how advertisers -- and presidential campaigns -- track web users. Jon Stewart Rips Michael Dunn Verdict: 'Run-Of-The-Mill Florida Batsh*t Crazy' Like many following the case, Jon Stewart was disturbed by Florida's failure to convict Michael Dunn for shooting and killing an unarmed black 17-year-old, Jordan Davis, after Davis and his friends played loud music in a gas station parking lot.

Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly surprising that the state let off a white man for killing an unarmed black man, either. To Stewart, the non-conviction was "run-of-the-mill Florida batshit crazy. " "Those hooligans! " Stewart sarcastically commented after playing a tape of Dunn claiming that the music bothered him due to his ears being damaged after years of scuba diving.

Pink floyd. Bill Nye Takes On Creationist Ken Ham. It was a debate for the ages -- although in this case, the ages in question are either 6,000 or several billion.

Bill Nye Takes On Creationist Ken Ham

Bill Nye, TV's "Science Guy," debated the age of the universe, evolution and other matters of science vs. faith with creationist Ken Ham at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky. For more than two hours, the pair argued over tree rings, ice core samples, the distance of the stars, vegetarian lions and the technology used to date wood and rock. Not surprisingly, neither made any revelations that converted the other. And judging by the responses on Twitter, it's unlikely they changed any minds in the audience. With apologies to Nye, an unscientific survey of the responses shows a bias in favor of the Science Guy. Ham doesn't believe in non-recorded history because it can't be observed, which is weird coming from a religious guy. Ham had a few tweets in his corner. I am loving the #CreationDebate.
