20 Historic Black and White Photos Colorized One of the greatest facets of reddit are the thriving subreddits, niche communities of people who share a passion for a specific topic. One of the Sifter’s personal favourites is r/ColorizedHistory. The major contributors are a mix of professional and amateur colorizers that bring historic photos to life through color. All of them are highly skilled digital artists that use a combination of historical reference material and a natural eye for colour. When we see old photos in black and white, we sometimes forget that life back then was experienced in the same vibrant colours that surround us today. This gallery of talented artists helps us remember that :)

Anatomy 4D Changes the Way We Learn About the Human Body Anatomy 4D, a free mobile app from DAQRI, gives students and educators the ability to explore every detail of the human body and all its systems in stunning detail. The app, which has been incredibly popular with the education community, allows users to isolate bodily systems: muscular, skeletal, circulatory and more, to see every detail and how each one works together. All you need to do is print the targets below and scan them with your phone’s camera. We’ve recently added a new target that gives a detailed, interactive look into the human heart - a learning experience previously only accessible in a gross anatomy lab. 4D embodies the way today's students can use technology to comprehend complex concepts in a much easier and more engaging way. Teacher Katie Ann Wilson saw this first hand in her classroom.
Personal, Business, Education Here, at myHistro, we are big believers in creating and sharing meaningful content. We do not believe that casual tweets and status updates are those that define you as a person. We do believe that every person has much more than just a one side to express and recall. We have always wanted myHistro to be a place where people can complete their “actual self” by showing different sides of one's personality: from hobbies & travels to general interests and real friends. From ancestors and family trees, to experiences and education. By Kevin Carey It’s three o’clock in the afternoon on Easter, and I’m standing on a wooden deck in the Corona Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, looking out toward Nob Hill.
FETCH! . Games . Lunch Rush One of the most important jobs on a movie crew is making sure that there is enough food for everyone on the set. The challenge is keeping track of how many pieces of sushi everyone wants for lunch (this is Hollywood, after all). You need to think fast and move quickly, because as Ruff always says, "this business keeps you on your toes, especially if you only have ten of them." Keep Ruff's hungry crew fed by finding and serving up the right number of sushi pieces as they're ordered. To play you'll need: iPhone with the free LUNCH RUSH!
Free Technology for Teachers: Create a Lab / Room Scheduler in Google Sheets Lab Scheduler is a neat Google Sheets Add-on that enables you to easily create and maintain a lab or room reservation system for your school. It is designed for schools that use a labeled block schedule (for example, the high school in my district uses "period 1" through "period 8" even though there are only four periods in a given day). Once you have added Lab Scheduler to your Google Spreadsheet it will walk you through the process of creating blocks of time and lab/room space in your spreadsheet. You can set your Lab Scheduler to maintain a preview of as many dates as you like. 3 Steps to Creating an Awesome Virtual Museum in Class You're spending an afternoon browsing the exhibits at an art museum. If you're anything like me, you'd probably appreciate the art a lot more if you could bring someone along that could explain the history and nuances of the pieces on display. Now imagine pointing a device at the painting and seeing it morph into a dynamic video giving you all the information you wanted about the art. Welcome to augmented reality. Virtual reality replaces the real world with an artificial, digital environment. In contrast, augmented reality alters your view of the real world by layering it with associated digital information.

Flipped Learning & Spaghetti Sauce I have recently been reading books by Malcolm Gladwell: Outliers and Tipping Point. I ran across a TED talk he did in 2004 talking about Spaghetti sauce. He tells a story of Howard Moskowitz who convinced Spaghetti Sauce maker Prego to make lots of different varieties of spaghetti sauce instead of just one. Prior to Howard Moskowitz, most food manufacturers were looking for the ONE recipe, which people would like. For example: the ONE Pepsi, and the ONE spaghetti sauce. 25 Simple Examples Of Mobile Teaching 25 Simple Examples Of Mobile Teaching by TeachThought Staff This is part 2 of a 3-part series on Mobile Teaching.
