The Crepes of Wrath

The Crepes of Wrath
As previously stated, I’m trying to eat better and shed some winter poundage as we head into the warmer months. So far, success. It’s been four days, but whatever. Being hyper aware of all of the food that I’m eating is a little depressing, but probably not as depressing as it’s going to be putting on a bathing suit for the first time in a while, so you know, whatever. The first two days were fasting days, where all I could eat was chicken or beef broth. I did find lamb broth at Whole Foods, which was so exciting for me it might almost be looked at as sad.

Chai Pancakes January 19, 2012 | Print | E-mail | Filed under chai As long as I can remember, I’ve always a loved pancakes. Well, maybe except for one summer growing up after a fateful camping trip with my family. The campground we frequented always had a big pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, which was pretty exciting…all you can eat pancakes with butter, syrup, bacon, sausage, and jam. One Saturday morning after my family and I had loaded up our plates with pancakes, we all sat down together to eat breakfast. tiny gingerbread houses, a few variations Earlier I made gingerbread houses meant to perch on the edge of a mug, but I wanted to work on a few more things. First, since these are meant to be eaten I wanted to cut down on the amount of royal icing. I still used it to assemble the houses, but to get sugar decorations to stick to the roofs I decided to use simple syrup. I heated one part water and one part sugar and let it bubble for a while on the stove just so it would thicken.

Baked Caramel Apple Donuts & shutterbean When you find yourself shopping online at 2AM, mini donut pans sound like a brilliant idea. That’s not something your sharp witted, practical 12PM mind allows you to consider–especially when your husband begged you not to add anymore items to the kitchen. When you wake up the next morning with a confirmation that your donut pans have shipped, you might find yourself wondering what else you’ve ordered online…Japanese steak knives? justJENN recipes » Iron Man Pizza Hand Pies Tony Stark is the man. Mint Chocolate Chip Cake Chocolate cake and I have had a very interesting romance. I started off with quite an intense dislike of chocolate cake. I KNOW. But try not to judge me too harshly, I had many bad experiences with store-bought dry, dense mudcakes covered in grainy baking chocolate icing. So every year when I asked Regex Man what cake he would like for his birthday and every year he replied me with "Chocolate 28 Muffin Recipes You’ll Want to Try I love muffins. I love them even more than cupcakes. Probably because they are so quick to make. It’s almost instant gratification from the time the muffin idea pops in your head until you’re pulling them from the oven. White Chicken Pizza January 19, 2011 White Chicken Pizza In this house I know that anytime I make a pizza, it’s guaranteed that it will get eaten. Even if I screw it up, the mantra seems to be that there is no such thing as a bad pie. Only the “this is pretty darn good pizza, pass another slice please” pizza, the “thank you soooo much for making pizza mommy” pizza (trust me, dinner compliments from the six and under crowd are a rare treat so this is the sign of a job well done), and the “Get your hand off that last slice, I called dibs and I’ll fight ya for it if I have to” kickin’ awesome pizza.

Mocha Cupcakes with Espresso Buttercream Frosting You’ll be happy to know that I have recovered from my epic kitchen fail, the oven is sparkling, and to celebrate I give you these amazing mocha cupcakes with espresso buttercream frosting. Plus, it’s Friday. And cupcakes are a perfect way to welcome the weekend with open arms. Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Glaze I’m not exaggerating when I write that I have been thinking about making these cinnamon rolls for five months. After posting my Sweet Potato Pecan Cinnamon Rolls last November, I started brainstorming other varieties and carrot cake immediately came to mind. I waited all of these months to make these cinnamon rolls because for some reason I associate carrot cake with Spring. Is it the bunnies?
