Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce {My Go-To Dinner Saver!}

Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce {My Go-To Dinner Saver!}
I am not (not!) exaggerating when I say this quick, creamy garlic alfredo sauce has changed how I view non-dinner nights. You know. Those nights when dinner just ain’t happening. Too many things going on. Too lazy (who, me??). The problem is, on nights like that, I just can’t handle the thought of dinner approaching and knowing I’m going to have to scrounge up something my kids will eat but I’ll probably find gag-worthy. Enter this sauce. We’ve made this no less than 10 times in the last month, and I have never, and I mean never, seen my kids gobble up anything so quickly. Embarrassingly, I have to admit, this sauce is even on the menu this week. Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce Note: I've only ever used 1% milk in this sauce and it works great for our tastes. Ingredients Directions In a medium pot or skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Printed from Mel's Kitchen Cafe (www.melskitchencafe.com) Recipe Source: adapted from Sweet Pea Chef

Pepperoni Pizza Muffins Recipe When I’m online looking for dinner inspiration, I often search for recipes that take something my family loves and make it into something new. Since pizza is one of my family’s favorite treat, I try to find new ways to incorporate it into our menu – kinda like I did with the Fried Pizza Bites. When I stumbled onto a recipe from the Noble Pig, I knew I had to try it out on my family! They absolutely loved it! The recipe was simple, only required a few ingredients and didn’t take long at all to prepare! South Indian Gunpowder Chutney - Molaha Podi - Aurora Serve South Indian Gunpowder Chutney with Idlis (steamed South Indian rice cakes) or Dosas (crispy savory South Indian rice pancakes) and Sambar or simply sprinkle it on plain boiled rice and tuck in! Ingredients: 4 tbsps Chana daal (large split yellow lentil)3 tbsps skinless Urad daal 3 tbsps sesame seeds5 dry red chillies (this is already really hot.

Mini Chocolate Bar Mug Brownie All this talk of uses for leftover Halloween candy — I never quite got it. Getting rid of mini chocolate bars was never a problem around here; our best use for leftover candy has always been eating it. Although. Those wee bars are good for some things — deep fried mini Mars bars, for example. Sometimes it’s handy having chocolate bars in miniature. Another opportunity presented itself today: a gooey chocolate mug brownie, into which I stirred a couple chopped up mini bars: a Snickers and an Oh!

Love and Olive Oil - StumbleUpon For the brownie base: 3/4 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon dark unsweetened cocoa powder (like Valrhona) 5 ounces good quality dark chocolate (60 to 72%), coarsely chopped 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cut into 1 inch cubes 3/4 cups sugar 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 3 large eggs, at room temperature 1 teaspoons vanilla extract For the buttercream: 3/4 cups sugar 2 tablespoons flour 3/4 cup milk 2 tablespoons heavy cream 1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) butter, softened but still cool, cut into small cubes 3 tablespoons creme de menthe 1 teaspoon peppermint extract For the chocolate glaze: 6 ounces good-quality dark chocolate (60 to 72%), coarsely chopped 1 teaspoon light corn syrup 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened, cut into cubes

Calzone! - StumbleUpon Uh-oh…this calzone shouldn’t be a calzone. Nope. It totally should be a picture of a pizza…topped with layers of ricotta, melted mozzarella, cubes of roasted butternut squash and broccoli rabe. Go ahead, take a shot of salad dressing. I got my first taste of this salad dressing when a dear friend brought it over with a meal she had made for my crew right after Nola was born. From the moment the heavenly concoction hit my lips, I wanted to drink it right out of it’s re-purposed glass bottle. Since asking begging her for the recipe, I’ve probably made it weekly. Salsa roja (roasted red salsa) I eat a lot of salsa. A LOT. I am rather notorious for this, in fact. My friend’s boyfriend once innocently asked if I had anything he could snack on — maybe some chips and salsa? My friend nearly fell on the floor laughing at the thought of me not having chips and salsa in the house.

Baked Southwestern Egg Rolls I am not good at wrapping gifts. My corners get scrunched up, sometimes the paper tears, and this year, I kept cutting pieces of wrapping paper too small and having to tape other pieces over the box to cover the holes. Yes, it's a bit of a disaster. Thankfully, when all of the gifts are sprawled under the tree, no one knows about any of the wrapping mishaps. Better-Than-Crack-Brownies I’m sorry for doing this to you. I really am. But see, last Friday while I was on a 10-hour road trip heading for vacation, I received this recipe from a reader named Liz. Liz, I love you. That’s all I have to say. I was tortured by this recipe for a full 8 days before I could make it.

Design Crush & Popsicles! - StumbleUpon Not to sound full of myself, but I’m pretty sure this is the be all, end all of popsicle roundups. There’s a little something for everyone: the foodies, the purists, the ones who prefer frozen yogurt, the ones who prefer a little alcohol, everyone. Tweny-five options to be exact. The post I did last summer on the cold guys was one of DC’s most viewed ever, so I thought you’d all be up for another round – was I right? Click on the photo to be taken to the recipe. They were also my first “vegetable”. I also love how versatile potatoes are.

oven-roasted tomato confit I've moved! Check out my new site here and subscribe to receive updates. I should probably let you in on this fact before I begin: I don’t like ketchup. I know, I know. How can one not like ketchup?
