Soup for Supper: 25 Nourishing, Delicious Soups
Welcome to Soup Week! It's a soup-broth-stew sort of week, with gray skies here and the craving for a hot mug of soup cradled in my hands. So we're breaking out the soup pot — to get things going, here are 25 favorite soups from the archives. There are soups without meat, like one of my all-time favorites: Tuscan Bread and Tomato Stew, and a creamy pumpkin soup without cream. Then there are meaty stews, like chili with pasta and cheddar, a sustainable seafood stew, and baked potato soup with bacon, onion, and cheddar. There's vegetarian pho, slurpy broths full of udon noodles, and creamy sweet potato soup with ginger and miso.

Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread How do you make bread even better? You stuff it with pepperoni and cheese. Then, you bake it in a bundt pan that allows you to pull off little chunks and dip them in pizza sauce. This is the perfect thing to bring to a party (and I did, where it disappeared quickly!) or to eat during a football game.

Slow Cooker Apple Butter - Aurora My poor Crock-Pot. Sitting neglected up in a cupboard for years at a time without so much as a glance. For all the time I spend stressing about what’s for dinner, you’d think it would have a prominent place on my countertop. I finally pulled it down a few weeks back and it hasn’t seen the cupboard since. I can’t keep it clean long enough to put it away! Anyway, on to the real topic of this post, and that is apple butter. Parmesan Roasted Potatoes Ok fine. I’m officially ready to make the transition to fall. And I thought, what better way to do it than with my all time favorite Parmesan Roasted Potatoes! Roasted Tomato Basil Soup Recipe Roasted Tomato Basil Soup We are still adjusting to our new lives as parents. We are loving every minute, life is just “different.” I used to be very organized and tried to stick to a schedule, but now I just “go with the flow.” Our little pea has an agenda of his own and I am just trying to keep up. He is a good baby, which I am very thankful for, so I am able to get a few things done during the day. Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce {My Go-To Dinner Saver!} I am not (not!) exaggerating when I say this quick, creamy garlic alfredo sauce has changed how I view non-dinner nights. You know. Those nights when dinner just ain’t happening. Too many things going on. Too lazy (who, me??).

Loaded Mashed Potato Bake Recipe for a Crowd First, I should apologize, these photos are terrible. Second, it doesn’t matter because these ugly pictures shouldn’t deter you from giving these mashed potatoes a try. They are insanely good. Last week my sister invited us out for dinner and a bonfire and I being the procrastinator I am, didn’t plan a dish to take over until the day of the get-together. How to cook perfect pea soup The humble pea is one of the unsung heroes of the British kitchen as far as I'm concerned. It's the making of egg and chips, the perfect complement to sausage and mash and the icing on the cake of fish pie – a little piece of summer fresh from the freezer all year round. Perhaps because of this very ubiquity, we tend to take peas for granted, which means we don't make the most of their short but glorious season, and the simple, rustic joy of podding peas in the sunshine while pretending to be Ma Larkin from the Darling Buds of May. One Madame de Maintenon, writing at the end of the 17th century, reminds us of what a treat fresh peas must have been before Clarence Birdseye stepped into the fold, as well as how very idle the French aristocracy really were: "The question of peas continues.

Cruftbox When Intelligentsia Coffee opened in Pasadena recently, I was intrigued the lasagna cupcakes they served. The cupcakes are made by Heirloom LA, a catering business. About the size of a muffin, a single lasagna cupcake was a delicious meal. After seeing how much my daughter enjoyed them (she ate my entire cupcake and I had to order a second one), I decided I had to try making them at home. After a bit of research, here is my method. Sweet Butter Love with Kerrygold When I was offered a chance to try a couple of new products from Kerrygold I jumped at it! I would like to issue a warning here that one of the products is a reduced fat butter. This would be a first for me and no one will be more surprised than my Mom. Hi Mom!

And Speaking of Pizza Dough... I made a double batch of my favorite home-made pizza dough the other day, just because of this contest and all the different approaches take when making pizza at home. I got this recipe from the Providence Journal ages ago, when Chef Brian Kingsford - either a former or current chef at the time - at Al Forno Restaurant was interviewed about grilled pizzas. He shared this recipe with the paper and I am sharing it with you. Al Forno Grilled Pizza Dough

Broccoli Cheese Soup: Panera Bread Copycat Recipe On Wednesday my sister and I volunteered to make the soup supper to go with the Advent service at church. Before you go thinking I'm some kind of charitable, goodhearted soul, I must tell you that the only reason that I do it is because I LOVE COOKING. In case you hadn't figured that out yet. Okay, so I was like, "Whadaya think, Nemo? Will two huge pots of soup, a crockpot full of barbequed meatballs, five trillion chicken salad sandwiches, fifty thousand and two loaves of bread, and a couple bazillion desserts cover it?"
