How to Pipe Icing Roses I baked this spring bouquet of cupcakes for my Weekend Baker post on the Cooking Channel blog. I was limited in space and wanted to go into a bit lot more detail on how to pipe the icing roses. Creating these flowers is not at all difficult, but it helps to have some simple tricks of the trade. With a little practice and the right tools you can easily recreate these flowers. Quick and Easy Lemon Cake This is the lemon cake that my Nana usually always makes for me when I go home to California. We both forgot about it during my last visit and I didn’t realize until I got back to Sicily that I hadn’t had my Lemon Jello Cake fix. Luckily, I have the recipe! And lucky for you, I’m going to share it!
Japanese Cheesecake (Fluffy & Creamy) When I tried the Japanese cheesecake with the very first bite, I have been fallen in love with it ever since. The velvety smooth, creamy, as well as the fluffy texture makes this kind of cheesecake stand out the crowd. The cheesecake is not too sweet, yet just enough to entertain your sweet tooth if you have one. 50 Things Everyone Should Know by Mark and Angel Self-reliance is a vital key to living a healthy, productive life. I had so much fun making pies in jars that I figured this was the perfect opportunity to bake something else in jars. This time I used half-pint wide mouth jars, a nice size for a bake sale. (Half pint jars washed and drying.) I used the blueberry cobbler recipe from Baking Illustrated.
recipe: two (exactly two!) chocolate cupcakes I have a strange relationship with sweets. I’m kind of obsessed with making them, but I’m not really that much into eating them. I don’t have a big sweet tooth (I’ll take wine and cheese over cookies almost any day of the week). And when I do get hit with a sweets craving, it’s usually short-lived. Like, if I bake a batch of something sweet, I usually take one bite of it and I’m done. And since I live alone, that usually means I’m left with a whole lot of something sweet on my hands.
