30 Drinks Every Bartender Should Know - StumbleUpon
So I have a new hire who is about to bartend her first bartending shift and I was about to e-mail her 30 drinks every bartender should know and looking for a list (so I wouldn’t have to make it) and almost every list I found was absolutely ridiculous. For example, one site listed the Bocci Ball (don’t know what it is, probably never will as in 12 years no one has ever ONCE asked me for one). Or the Freddy Fudpacker (aka The Cactus Banger) – once again NEVER HEARD anyone order either of these ever ONCE. I’m not naming any drinks on this list where the ingredients are the name i.e. vodka tonic, amaretto sour, or gin and juice. 1. Apple Martini 2. How To Make the Top Cocktails Every Bartender Should Know Apple Martini I hate to even put this on the list, but it is a cocktail that I get an order for at least once a weekend. 3 oz Apple Pucker, 2 oz Vodka, (can add 1 oz fresh lime sour if you happen to have something like that in your bar) shake and serve up with a bright red maraschino cherry

Web's Best: Whiskey Drinks Unlike The Most Interesting Man in the World, we almost always drink beer. When we don’t, however, our go to liquor is whiskey. What can we say, bourbon is neat (little whiskey humor). While we usually just pour a few fingers and relax, sometimes we like to get a tad more creative. Chocolate Covered Cherry Jello Shots byJello DivaonApril 28, 2009 When it comes to jello shots, chocolate covered cherry jello shots have to be among my favorite! Although there is no actual chocolate in this recipe, Creme de Cacao combines with the cherry jello and comes pretty close to the real thing – as real as you can when jello is your main ingredient. Chocolate Guinness Goodness Recipe at Epicurious Editor's note: This recipe was developed by Shane Philip Coffey, the chef at Alias restaurant on New York City's Lower East Side. This rich and luscious dessert came about because I needed a special dessert for a St. Patrick's Day tasting menu. I was on a mission to use my favorite beer, Guinness, something I consider to be one of Ireland's gifts to the world. As the 17th of March drew closer, I looked for inspiration at my favorite Irish pub in Manhattan. As I savored my pint, I saw a Guinness poster that said, "My Goodness, My Guinness!"

Elusive Ecto-Cooler Recipe Revealed? Homemade recipe for Ecto Cooler just in time to practice for Halloween! The mid to late 80s represent the bulk of my memories from childhood, from films like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade to Aliens and, yes, even Cannon Films’ Masters of the Universe. It was also a great time to be a Ghostbusters fan with both films and a popular animated series (The Real Ghostbusters) proving to be pretty damn popular. Merchandising tie-ins came quick and along with the scores of comics, apparel and action figures came Hi-C’s famous Ecto-Cooler drink. Strangely enough, the drink has become almost as well-known and popular as the films and cartoon that spawned it with countless articles dedicated to it like this one from X-Entertainment’s Matt Caracappa.

A Different Kind of Smoothie I sat down with a precious girlfriend for lunch at Fiddlecakes the other day and she told me about green smoothies. Huh? It was a smoothie, but was packed with greens such as spinach and kale, fruit, and sometimes even protein powder. Munching on my gluten free brownie, I listened as she told me about how much energy she and her husband have had since they’ve started drinking them. Well, since trying one (which I was a bit nervous about, I’ll admit) I’ve been hooked and have really noticed a difference in my energy. Plus I’m getting nutrients in my system that I’d never get normally because I’d frankly never eat this many greens on my own.

Bomb Pop Shots - The Kitchen Whisperer Growing up my all time FAVORITE frozen treat were Bomb Pops! Those ‘rocket’ shaped Popsicles that were blue raspberry on the bottom, lemon in the middle and cherry on top. And I’m sure by now you all know what I did with the cherry portion. Yep, you guessed it! Damn Yeah Magical Glowing Cocktails! This drink isn’t a figment of your imagination. I know, that was my initial thought too and I was all “Man, maybe I need to lay off the absinthe!” The glowing, outer-space inspired jungle juice was created by The Campus Companion Party Lab. All you need is gin OR vodka (choose gin if you really, really hate yourself), tonic water, Roses Mojito Passion OR Pink-Lemonade Concentrate, ice, and a black light. Man that doesn’t sound too crazy! But knowing me, I would totally f*** it up.
