Churro Tots

Churro Tots
Happy Wednesday, beautiful people.Factoid for you: Getting my car serviced stresses me.To deal, I totally made Churro Tots. Throw in stress eating and calls to dad, and it some how made everything okay. I encourage it!Last week I went to a cookbook release party at Border Grill and they had churros…in tot form! I was blown away by their cuteness–had to replicate it stat for you all.I basically made a tweaked and adjusted version of this pate a choux recipe. And then fried small balls of the dough. Grab a baking sheet, line it with some paper towels. Recipe adapted from Dorie GreenspanPrint this recipe!

Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes I shared this recipe over at Tatertots and Jello a couple weeks ago but these molten lava cakes are so delicious that I had to share them here too! This is one of my all time favorite recipes to make when we have guests over because it is so good and super easy. These chocolate lava cakes only have five ingredients in them and they are normal, everyday ingredients that you probably already have in your fridge and pantry! The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe Ever Yeah, yeah, I know! Everyone has a recipe that they say is the best ever. Well, this one is mine. This is my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe of all time.

chocolate banana crepes This past Friday night was meant for celebrating. The weather was sit-out-on-the-deck-in-the-cool-evening-breeze perfection. Friends gathered from all around the city with chips and salsa and salads and popcorn and laughter and stories to share. The fire pit was aflame. The candles were lit on this (gluten free and vegan) carrot cake. Lemon-Blueberry Yogurt Loaf Lemon-Blueberry Yogurt Loaf Zingy Lemon-Blueberry Yogurt Loaf made with freshly squeezed lemon juice, lemon zest, yogurt and plump blueberries is lightly brushed with a lemon syrup then drizzled with a lemon glaze. Bursting with lemony flavor and fresh blueberries, this melt in your mouth will leave you begging for more. Serve a slice of this moist loaf with a cup of tea and start your morning off right. Honeyed Pears in Puff Pastry Poaching fruit is one of my favorite things to do when cold weather arrives. It's so warming to stand over a boiling pot of fragrant spices and lose yourself in thought. When I made these, I couldn't help but daydream as I stirred; if I were a pear... I wouldn't want to spend my days on the shelf of a cold produce department. I'd want to be taken to a warm home and placed in a jacuzzi of honey and spices. Pinned & prepped: Caramel snickerdoodles It has been AGES since I last published a pinned & prepped post. It’s not that I haven’t been pinning and prepping but they’ve been done in the opposite order. I’ve been googling, then baking/cooking and then pinning if all goes well.

Banana Split Bites Banana Split Bites ~ A classic ice cream dessert gets mini for some bite size fun. And yes, there is actually a tiny scoop of ice cream tucked inside and underneath the whip cream of those little darlings. Banana Split Mini Bites For once I made something mini for portion control and not just for the cute factor. My little guy had some friends over the other day and of course with a mom who is a baker, the expectation is dessert will not only be good but it will be fun. And I was asked, by friend Caroline, not to let her boys eat too much dessert.

Cookie Dough Truffles Here we are! Final day of sharing truffles recipes…just in time for Christmas! Yay! It’s Christmas Eve! I’m so excited for all of the amazing conversation and laughter with friends and family and it goes without saying….the food…especially the sweet stuff. They taste just like the real thing but without being afraid of raw eggs or anything. Strawberry & Chocolate Nachos I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: sometimes the best creations are the ones you don’t set out to create! This might be my new favorite thing. It’s the perfect easy, throw-together, family style dessert for summer. I did a local tv segment this week and made my Baked Cinnamon Chips and Fruit Salsa. When I got home I had a bag full of cinnamon chips left over and started snacking. Then my boys walked in from the back yard with handfuls of strawberries from our garden and I started thinking about how chocolate covered strawberries sounded so good right then

How to Make Marshmallow Fondant This time I decided to make it with those mini fruit flavored marshmallows. I had to sort them by colour first. I figured they would add a little bit of flavor to the fondant so I wouldn't have to add much flavoring oil. I use gel colours to dye my fondant but regular food colouring will work too. You won't be able to get really dark colours without making your fondant sticky, but for lighter colours you can just even it out with more icing sugar.

Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins with Pecan Streusel You know you’re a foodie when you express out loud how excited you are for spring/summer berries to arrive! And I’m telling you, this is pure, genuine excitement. I am such a weirdo. Another plus of the oncoming fruits and veggies, is major sales on the frozen variety.
