Biography Early Life Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: An Excellent Google Drive Tool for Creating Interactive Presentations April 28, 2015 Pear Deck is a nice app that allows you to plan and build interactive presentation decks directly from your Google Drive. One distinctive feature of Pear Deck is that it includes some amazing formative assessment tools that allows you to engage the entire class with a series of questions on the content of the presentation. When you present through Pear Deck you are actually creating a live session that students can join from their own devices. As a teacher, you have full control of the flow of the presentation and using your tablet you can even easily move in the class while going through the slides in your projector screen.Pear Deck has a variety of unique interactive features (e.g. draggable, drawing, text or number, multiple choice…etc) that enable students to actively participate in your presentation and respond to your questions.

Timeline Timeline allows students to create a graphical representation of an event or process by displaying items sequentially along a line. Timelines can be organized by time of day, date, or event, and the tool allows users to create a label with short or long descriptive text. Adding an image for each label makes a timeline more visually appealing. Add, drag, and rearrange items as needed. Saving capability allows students to return to their work and make revisions, and they can share their final work via e-mail. For additional ideas on how to use this tool outside of the classroom, see Timeline in the Parent & Afterschool Resources section. 16 Little-Known Teacher Tools By Jessica Sanders Educational technology is quickly becoming a normal part of classrooms around the world, bringing the demand for more tools to an all-time high. Scholars say this remarkable new technique may make it possible to read other scrolls too brittle to be unrolled. The scroll’s content, the first two chapters of the Book of Leviticus, has consonants — early Hebrew texts didn’t specify vowels — that are identical to those of the Masoretic text, the authoritative version of the Hebrew Bible and the one often used as the basis for translations of the Old Testament in Protestant Bibles. The Dead Sea scrolls, those found at Qumran and elsewhere around the Dead Sea, contain versions quite similar to the Masoretic text but with many small differences.

Technology Powered Assessment I think one of the more complex aspects a teacher has to wrestle with is assessment and what is worth knowing or what should be understood. There are many writers, speakers, workshops, etc. on how student learning should be assessed for learning, of learning, how to gather evidence, how to inform teaching, etc. I’m not a teacher but if I was, I would find that my job has become much more difficult with all the expectations to backward design my lessons, cover an ever broadening curriculum, give my students continuous feedback, and then somehow differentiate learning to meet the abilities, readiness, preferences, and needs of my students.
