Sketchnotes: Building my visual vocabulary Okay, I’ve figured more stuff out in terms of expanding my visual vocabulary! =) Here’s my current workflow. Goals: Best of CSS Design 2007 For those who don't know, I'm also the guy behind Best Web Gallery and N.Design Studio . In 2006, I started Best Web Gallery as a gallery site where I feature the best CSS and Flash sites. I'm glad that I started the project because it gives me the opportunity to keep my design sense up-t0-the-trend. In the past year, I've seen a lot of sites from the submissions (some are great, some are horrible). As 2007 is wrapping up, I would like to share the best design sites with you. Here is a list of 50 websites hand-picked from Best Web Gallery — Best of CSS Design 2007 .

visual recording on the iPad, illustrated – Ninmah Meets World This week I’ll be giving a talk at IFVP 2010 on visual recording with the iPad. While I was preparing my notes, I discovered how easy it is to make Quicktime movies of your notes with the Brushes app, so I made a little movie. Then I got carried away narrating it and adding in other images and … well, it’s almost 13 minutes long now, and if you watch it, you can skip my talk. When logos look alike It gets more and more difficult to create original logos. No matter how clever your idea, the chances are someone has come up with something very similar. Why is that? Facebook Changes Page Cover Rules – Test 20% With This Tool Facebook recently (quietly) changed its Page Guidelines around Cover Images. Previously, you could not have any price or purchase information, contact information, references to Facebook features, or calls to action. Now, you can. The main rule that remains in place for Cover Images is that you cannot exceed 20% text. Why is this? So that the News Feed remains visually appealing and isn’t covered in giant text-based advertisements.

Nord Architecture The building is designed as an 'object' volume made of Caithness stone for Plot 2 of Scotland’s Housing Expo 2010. The ‘Stone House’ is deliberately positioned within a tradition of building with stone in Scotland. With its somber expression and subtle layer of craft using nothing but a stacked arrangement of caithness bricks and recessed mortar joints to cloak the terrace; it is basic but also iconic and memorable. NORD’s response is to create a ’heavy’ and permanent gateway building on Plot 2.
