Bad Bunny Becomes First-Ever Latino Urban Artist To Be Featured On Cover Of Rolling Stone

Bad Bunny's rise to fame has been meteoric. In 2016, he was bagging groceries - just four years later, he was on stage at the Superbowl alongside JLo and Shakira, a performance that was not only a career milestone, but a powerful political statement. Now, with two best-selling albums already this year (his most recent drop, "las que no iban a salir" debuted at #1 on Apple Music, making him the first Latino ever to hit the top spot), 8 songs in the Top 50 charts, and number one rankings on both Spotify and Youtube, the Puerto Rican trap king tops Bloomberg's Pop Star Power Rankings, making him the biggest pop star in the world. And the first-ever Latino urban artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, joining the ranks of music legends, very few of whom have ever been Latinos. Stay safe Benito. ‘Gentefied’ Is So Much More Than a Gentrification Story

Photo: Michael Buckner/Deadline/Shutterstock Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez had never sold a TV script or even set foot in a writers’ room when they visited network after network three years ago, speaking in Spanglish about brown love, familia, and the show of their dreams. Ten times, in front of some of the industry’s biggest players, they pitched their dramedy, Gentefied. Over and over at their talent agency’s office, they had rehearsed the pitch — part autobiographical narrative, part stand-up act peppered with untranslated jokes — about an East L.A. neighborhood and the unabashed Mexican-American characters who live in it.

They prepared so much they could talk four seasons into the show’s future if someone asked. Dinosaur Unearthed in Argentina Breaks Record for Largest Ever Discovered

Seven "huge" herbivorous dinosaurs were discovered at one site in the province of Chubut, Argentina, according to the Paleontological Museum Egidio Feruglio, which led the dig. The new species are estimated to have been 40 meters in length and 80 tons in weight, surpassing the previous record-holder for the world's largest dinosaur — the Argentinosaurus. "The remains are quite complete, so the size and weight estimates have good precision," José Luis Carballido, a dinosaur specialist at the museum, told NBC News.

"If there ever was a larger one, it remains to be seen. " The dinosaur species, which has yet to be named, lived during the late Mesozoic era and died in the same spot where they were discovered, the museum reported. Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. 'Mary Poppins' to be preserved by Library of Congress. WASHINGTON (AP) — Just in time for a new movie about the making of Mary Poppins, the 1964 Disney classic starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke has been selected for preservation at the Library of Congress so future generations of Americans can see it.

'Mary Poppins' to be preserved by Library of Congress

On Wednesday, the library is inducting 25 films into the National Film Registry to be preserved for their cultural, historical or cinematic significance. This year's selections include Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, the space race film The Right Stuff, and Michael Moore's documentary confronting the auto industry, Roger and Me. Curators said it was a coincidence that they selected Mary Poppins just ahead of its 50th anniversary and during the release of the new Disney film Saving Mr. Banks, which is about the making of the movie. Steve Leggett, program coordinator for the library's National Film Preservation Board, said Mary Poppins had been on the short list of picks many times before.

She later told investigators her family told her she was born in the Unites States. Instead, it turned out that she was born in Sinaloa, Mexico, and came to the U.S. as a young child and was living in the country illegally, NBC station KVOA in Tucson, the first to make the revelation, reported.

And its voters often send messages: Until this year, the party in the White House had lost the race nine straight times. WASHINGTON — Voters sent the Tea Party reeling Tuesday as its star candidate lost a winnable Virginia governor’s race Tuesday while Gov. Chris Christie won big in New Jersey. Republican Ken Cuccinelli ran a closer-than-expected race against Democrat Terry McAuliffe in Virginia, an important swing state test for the grassroots conservatives, but still fell short. The result was a vivid reminder that the Tea Party has become a movement with largely regional — and limited national — appeal.
