The Lexile® Framework for Reading There is no direct correspondence between a specific Lexile measure and a specific grade level. Within any classroom or grade, there will be a range of readers and a range of reading materials. For example, in a fifth-grade classroom there will be some readers who are ahead of the typical reader (about 250L above) and some readers who are behind the typical reader (about 250L below). To say that some books are "just right" for fifth graders assumes that all fifth graders are reading at the same level.

She's published two books, which have won the top two YA Fiction spots in the 2013 Goodreads Choice Awards. And she created three characters who have become instant favorites: the titular couple of Eleanor & Park, a pair of high school misfits in love, and Cath of Fangirl, a fan fiction star who is having a hard time navigating her way through college. Whew! The Nebraska-based author writes with a rare mix of wisdom and ease. In her hands difficult truths feel simple and heartache is somehow totally delicious.

Five Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Self-Publish Let me be clear, I am a self-published author. I have no regrets, and I will continue to self-publish in the future, however, I strongly advise against taking this route. It takes a special kind of crazy to do this to yourself, so turn back now if you can. Here are my five reasons why you should be a good girl/boy and cry yourself to sleep every night while reading your rejection letters, until you can finally get picked up by a traditional publisher. When that day comes, you can justifiably dance naked around a bonfire of those freshly printed rejection correspondences. Doesn’t that sound nice?
