We have a client that we’re working with right now that sells a product for people with limited mobility due to a disability, and we had an amazing brainstorming session yesterday about the direction. This brainstorming session led me right back in to the theme of day #3 of the BOLO conference – story telling (from my perspective of course). Maybe I’m a little behind as far as online marketing/advertising goes, but I’m pretty sure everyone hasn’t gotten on board with this just yet. At BOLO, I started to think about the top 3 brands I see are KILLING it in this space: VolkswagenChipotleNike Randomly a few years back, I saw a show on TV that featured how Volkswagen goes about creating their advertising campaigns, and what they expected from them – every one of them had some emotionally engaging tie-in to them.

Latent semantic analysis Latent semantic analysis (LSA) is a technique in natural language processing, in particular in vectorial semantics, of analyzing relationships between a set of documents and the terms they contain by producing a set of concepts related to the documents and terms. LSA assumes that words that are close in meaning will occur in similar pieces of text. A matrix containing word counts per paragraph (rows represent unique words and columns represent each paragraph) is constructed from a large piece of text and a mathematical technique called singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to reduce the number of columns while preserving the similarity structure among rows. Words are then compared by taking the cosine of the angle between the two vectors formed by any two rows. Values close to 1 represent very similar words while values close to 0 represent very dissimilar words.[1]

Resonancers Sentiment analysis Sentiment analysis (also known as opinion mining) refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis and computational linguistics to identify and extract subjective information in source materials. Generally speaking, sentiment analysis aims to determine the attitude of a speaker or a writer with respect to some topic or the overall contextual polarity of a document. The attitude may be his or her judgment or evaluation (see appraisal theory), affective state (that is to say, the emotional state of the author when writing), or the intended emotional communication (that is to say, the emotional effect the author wishes to have on the reader). Subtasks[edit] A basic task in sentiment analysis[1] is classifying the polarity of a given text at the document, sentence, or feature/aspect level — whether the expressed opinion in a document, a sentence or an entity feature/aspect is positive, negative, or neutral.

LingPipe is tool kit for processing text using computational linguistics.

Spanish and Catalan WordNets - NLP Research Group Spanish and Catalan Wordnets follow the EuroWordNet framework and ire structured in the same way as the American wordnet for English ( Princeton WordNet ) in terms of synsets (sets of synonymous words) with basic semantic relations between them. Spanish and Catalan nouns, verbs and adjectives are organized into synonym sets, each representing one underlying lexical concept. Different relations links the synonym sets. The Spanish and Catalan WordNets also represent a set of unique language-internal system of lexicalizations. Balie - Baseline Information Extraction
