Photographer Rigs An iPhone 4 To Helium Balloons To Take HD Videos Here is a nice concept to compete with Kite Arieal Photography, Helicopter rigged cameras and very long pole photography. A bunch of curious DIYers at Los Angeles rigged an iPhone 4 to a set of helium balloons that helped it rise about 1000 feet and take 720p videos of Los Angeles. The footage is displayed below, while it is not perfect, and kinda shaky, there is also a valuable BTS. Hit the Just for some behind the scenes and my notes of the video here is the behind the scenes video that they took (probably to have some memory in case that iPhone would never be seen again). There are lots of good pointers in the BTS.

10 Best Panasonic GH4 Camera Cages The GH4 is an incredible camera, but like all small bodied cameras, it can be a real pain to use with accessories or even tripods. That is where cages come in. As someone who reviews gear a lot I’ve seen some pretty horrible cages and some amazing ones. Here are my top 10 picks for the best GH4 cage options currently available. Do you own an A7s? Enthusiast Compact Camera Group Test (Q4 2010) Review: 1. Introduction It wasn't so long ago that DSLRs were out of financial reach for most enthusiast photographers. Back before DSLRs fell below the magic sub-$1000 mark, the only way for most people to 'go digital' was to invest in a high-quality compact, offering SLR-like control, but without the expensive extras - the large sensor and interchangeable lens mount. These days, of course, DSLRs are far more attainable than they once were, making high-end compacts less of a 'next best thing' purchase than in the past, and more of a luxury. In fact, the high end compact sector is sometimes referred to as the 'luxury' compact market - a fact that is indicative of the changing times, as well as the greater purchasing power of today's enthusiast photographers. The Coolpix P7000 and the S95 (alongside its predecessor the S90) are very different from previous cameras in their long-established ranges and they clearly demonstrate a desire on the part of their designers to be taken seriously.

Brooke Shaden : Creating new worlds through images. This week I received an email from a most beautiful soul, asking if I would write about the topic of how to find inspiration when life is getting you down. I’m extremely empathetic and I take on others pain and joy very easily, and after reading her email, I cried for her. And if I can offer any words of advice that might be even 1% useful, well, that is how to contribute to our community. The first thing that I think needs to be clarified about artistry or inspiration or even passion is that it does not have to be who we are.

Nikon D700 long term test Digital SLR Review Will Cheung on the Nikon D700Gary Wolstenholme on the Nikon D700Our original Nikon D700 review The Nikon D700 was announced back in the summer of 2008. Two years on, with digital cameras having a rapid churn rate, you could be forgiven for thinking that it is coming to the end of its useful shelf life and will be superseded shortly. This is pure speculation on our part but it could explain why Nikon UK recently announced that if you buy a D700 before the end of the June you get a free MB-D10 grip worth £260.

Contemporary Art The self-portraits by the Japanese artist Yasumasa Morimura, Requiem for the XX Century: Twilight of the Turbulent Gods, examines an array of historical figures and political events that have been significant in shaping the 20th century. Employing his usual methodology, Morimura uses costumes, make-up and props to create unconventional and bold renderings of iconic images from history. While Morimura’s work has traditionally investigated femininity through iconic depictions of women from art history and popular culture, this body of work examines widely disseminated images of prominent masculine figures from the last century. Each protagonist or event is cast in a moment of apogee, when history is being made and visually captured. Substituting himself for ideologues, dictators or brilliant minds such as Einstein, Lenin, Che, Mao or Trotsky, Morimura reflects on his personal encounter of these images during his lifetime as well notions of masculinity embedded in politics and war.
