Photographer Rigs An iPhone 4 To Helium Balloons To Take HD Videos Here is a nice concept to compete with Kite Arieal Photography, Helicopter rigged cameras and very long pole photography. A bunch of curious DIYers at Los Angeles rigged an iPhone 4 to a set of helium balloons that helped it rise about 1000 feet and take 720p videos of Los Angeles. The footage is displayed below, while it is not perfect, and kinda shaky, there is also a valuable BTS. Hit the Just for some behind the scenes and my notes of the video here is the behind the scenes video that they took (probably to have some memory in case that iPhone would never be seen again). There are lots of good pointers in the BTS.

Enthusiast Compact Camera Group Test (Q4 2010) Review: 1. Introduction It wasn't so long ago that DSLRs were out of financial reach for most enthusiast photographers. Back before DSLRs fell below the magic sub-$1000 mark, the only way for most people to 'go digital' was to invest in a high-quality compact, offering SLR-like control, but without the expensive extras - the large sensor and interchangeable lens mount. These days, of course, DSLRs are far more attainable than they once were, making high-end compacts less of a 'next best thing' purchase than in the past, and more of a luxury. In fact, the high end compact sector is sometimes referred to as the 'luxury' compact market - a fact that is indicative of the changing times, as well as the greater purchasing power of today's enthusiast photographers. The Coolpix P7000 and the S95 (alongside its predecessor the S90) are very different from previous cameras in their long-established ranges and they clearly demonstrate a desire on the part of their designers to be taken seriously.

Andre Kertesz / Biography & Images - Atget Photography.com Perhaps more than any other photographer, Andre Kertesz discovered and demonstrated the special aesthetic of the small camera. These beautiful little machines seemed at first hardly serious enough for the typical professional, with his straightforward and factual approach to the subject. Most of those who did use small cameras tried to make them do what the big camera did better; deliberate, analytical description. Kertesz had never been much interested in deliberate, analytical description; since he had begun photographing in 1912 he had sought the revolution of the elliptical view, the unexpected detail, the ephemeral moment ___ not the epic but the lyric truth. When the first 35mm camera ___ the Leica ___ was marketed in 1925, it seemed to Kertesz that it had been designed for his own eye.

Brooke Shaden : Creating new worlds through images. This week I received an email from a most beautiful soul, asking if I would write about the topic of how to find inspiration when life is getting you down. I’m extremely empathetic and I take on others pain and joy very easily, and after reading her email, I cried for her. And if I can offer any words of advice that might be even 1% useful, well, that is how to contribute to our community. The first thing that I think needs to be clarified about artistry or inspiration or even passion is that it does not have to be who we are. How To Put Together A Lifestyle Photo Shoot: Part II When it comes to putting together a photo shoot, if there is anything that I’ve learned (and continue to learn), is that the time spent working out the smallest details will save you from at best a tremendous amount of work after the fact, and at worst, the horror of having to scrap the shoot entirely. That’s why when you’re putting together a photo shoot, no detail should be overlooked, least of all the talent that you choose to work with. In the last section, we covered the importance of concept development and creating a mood board. Both, in my opinion, are of vast importance to creating and pulling off a great photo shoot.

Nikon D700 long term test Digital SLR Review Will Cheung on the Nikon D700Gary Wolstenholme on the Nikon D700Our original Nikon D700 review The Nikon D700 was announced back in the summer of 2008. Two years on, with digital cameras having a rapid churn rate, you could be forgiven for thinking that it is coming to the end of its useful shelf life and will be superseded shortly. This is pure speculation on our part but it could explain why Nikon UK recently announced that if you buy a D700 before the end of the June you get a free MB-D10 grip worth £260.
