TUTORIAL: Coffee Stirrer DIY Wall Art - makeanddogirl.com
Last week, I posted a preview of the simple, inexpensive wall art my mom and I created. Now I’m excited to show you how you can make a one-of-a-kind coffee stirrer masterpieces too! I’m big on projects that anyone can do. And this is one of those projects. If you can smear paint on wood and use scissors, you can make this easy art. (Don’t you dare say you’re not “creative!” Here’s all you need to get started: 1. Additional Supplies: 5. Okay, first things first. So, once you’ve got your palette, it’s time to paint your frames and your coffee stirrers! My mom and I did our painting as the sun was setting, which is always a questionable decision. I was going for the reclaimed driftwood sort of look. Once your coffee stirrers are painted, it’s time to trim them to fit into the frame(s) you’ve chosen. I found the quickest way to do this is to measure one stick to be the length you need it and then use it as the guide for trimming all the others. What’s left?

Christmas Lights in 8 Bedrooms Posted by rd on Thursday, November 3, 2011 · Countdown begins before Christmas! And timely enough I’ve found these beautiful Christmas lights adorned bedrooms. They are so lovely I can’t stand it! Friendship Bracelets Macraméd friendship bracelets were all the rage when I was growing up in the eighties. All the girls at my school would obsessively make them for one another in a dizzying variety of colors, widths, and patterns. It's amazing, thinking back, that such young girls could make such beautifully intricate accessories. I, of course, tried my hand at making them as well. I would ride my bike down to the five-and-dime store and pick out the most sophisticated color combinations of embroidery floss I could find, but when it came to the actual macramé I never got beyond plain stripes. There was nothing wrong with plain stripes, except that the other girls seemed so much more advanced with their diamonds and chevrons.

It looks like this: (SORRY--bad camera phone picture) What is so bad about this you might ask? Well NOTHING--if your name is LANDON--not COLTON. BUT if you are COLTON and this is YOUR bed--and you are now over 2 years old and your older brother LANDON is now 4 and hasn't occupied this room or this bed for 2 years--then THERE MIGHT BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS WALL!!

But by no means should that stop us from tinkering around in there, using somewhat questionable and possibly dangerous techniques to make our brains do what we want. We can't vouch for any of these, either their effectiveness or safety.
