How To Fishtail Braid Move beyond the basic plait with a fishtail braid. Stylist Tommy Bucket explains how to wear the hairstyle, like Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Angela Simmons have already done (watch a video tutorial below!) STEP 1 Separate hair into two equal sections at the back of the head. Fishtail braiding requires only two sections (not three, like a classic or French braid). MUST READ: 5 Braided Looks We Want To Try (Spotted On Pinterest) STEP 2 Start the fishtail braid by holding the right section with your right hand. Natural looking beach curls in under 20 minutes! Find out about Braids: Our Top 7 Picks By kenziepoo | It’s so hard to believe that fall will be upon us soon. If you are like me you will be in desperate need of what’s in for hair this fall. CHALK IT UP photos: Kristin Ess, post designed by Kristin Ess Last week, we were shooting Lauren’s collection for Kohl’s and at the end of the day, we got our hands on some colorful soft chalks. How can a girl resist when there are pinks + purples involved?? Lauren’s pink cotton candy bun was pretty cute! page corner bookmarks This project comes to you at the request of Twitterer @GCcapitalM. I used to believe that a person could never have too many books, or too many bookmarks. Then I moved into an apartment slightly larger than some people’s closets (and much smaller than many people’s garages) and all these beliefs got turned on their naïeve little heads. But what a person can always look for more of is really cool unique bookmarks. Placeholders special enough for the books that are special enough to remain in your culled-out-of-spacial-necessity collection. Page corner bookmarks are cute, practical and deeply under-represented in the world.* They’re easy to make, easy to customize, and will set you apart from all those same-same flat rectangular bookmarks.

LOOK: The Fishtail Braid April 15, 2011 Filed Under: Hair, Looks, Trends, Tutorials, Tutorials When I was a little girl, I had this amazing ‘KLUTZ’ brand book that had tons of different ways to braid and style your hair. 10 of the Best Drug Store Beauty Buys I have an apology to make: I used to be one of those girls behind the makeup counter of a big, fancy department store selling you over-priced beauty products. While I won’t say which brand I worked for, I can tell you that my uniform consisted of all black and way too much makeup. Hey, it was the 90’s, after all. Well, I’m here to make amends. Because, you see, not all department store makeup is better than the drug store version. Homemade Hair Treatments - At-Home Hair Repair at WomansDay.com Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast—but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients, and affordable, all-natural ones at that. And they're not the only ones. Did you know, for instance, that the oils in avocados more closely resemble our own skin's oils than any product in the beauty aisle does? Or that the mild acidity in lemon is an effective—and gentler—alternative to chemical-laden products?

IN A RUSH? FORGET THE BRUSH! photos: Angela Kohler + thebeautydepartment.com post designed by kristin ess In a world where we can’t stop running late, the fun bun is probably the quickest way from A to Chic. This look comes in über-handy when you wake up late and you’re rushing out the door (or even if you have plenty of time). It’s such a high-brow/low-brow look. Meaning it can be paired with anything from jeans and a tank to a chiffon tiered dress. It’s amazing for the summer because some days when it’s really hot outside, all we want is to get that hair off our neck + shoulders! Four Homemade Cleaners This was easier than I thought it would be. One of Betsy’s goals for the year was to ditch some of our standard cleaners that we use around the house and make them! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about this project mainly because I wasn’t sure that homemade cleaners would really get the job done. And my lovely wife is a bit of a neat freak so there’s no way she would use something that didn’t perform well. So a couple of weekends ago she went out and bought a few staple ingredients and some empty spray bottles and we spent a few minutes mixing up four different homemade cleaners that have since replaced 90% of the cleaners we use around the house.

How-To: The Cascade/Waterfall Braid The waterfall braid also known as the cascade braid recently exploded as the new "trend braid" of the season. The waterfall effect looks cool and complex, but it's easier to style than you think. Give this beautiful braid a try when Beautylish takes you through the how-to! Section Off The waterfall braid works best on straight or loose waves. Brush out all the knots with a wide tooth comb. How to Quit Shampoo Without Becoming Disgusting Are you cheap? Lazy? Vaguely and perhaps unjustifiably paranoid about slathering your body with chemicals on a daily basis? Then perhaps you'd like to join the “no-poo movement”? It is more than just a hair-care revolution—it’s also the perfect way to trick others into using the term “poo”!
