Critique of Civilization FAQ

Going through my old essays, I've come to feel that arguing a position is the lowest form of writing. I'm tempted to just delete this whole thing, but it has some good stuff, so instead I'll break the framing story. The critique of civilization rests on a fallacy: first, take all the worst things in the history of large complex societies, and use them to define the word "civilization"; then use the word "civilization" to define the class of all possible large complex societies.

What do you mean, "critique of civilization"? Author Albert Einstein Quote Fish Need To Swim.

But the major breakthroughs have come from a handful of insights that completely rocked my world and redefined reality forever. The world now seems to be a completely different one than the one I lived in about ten years ago, when I started looking into the mechanics of quality of life. The first time I heard somebody say that — in the opening chapter of The Power of Now — I didn’t like the sound of it one bit. I see quite clearly now that life is nothing but passing experiences, and my thoughts are just one more category of things I experience. If you can observe your thoughts just like you can observe other objects, who’s doing the observing? 2. Of course! 3. 4. Famous World Ideologies, as explained by references to Cows.

Current Writing Tonight the sky is a hazy shade of white. My thoughts are as nebulous as tonight’s sky. I close my eyes and listen, a technique that often hears the universe in conversation, or hears the soft intonation of poetry sung between stars in the open field of the clear nightscape.

Yet, even in this strange night, there is a unique intimacy. The night has become a mirror, and I feel I am beginning to like it well enough. Under One Sun Under one sun we blossom as love for one another.
