Google Maps. Street View - Google Maps. Welcome to the new Google Maps - Google Maps Help. When launched in 2005, Google Maps redefined online mapping with an experience that was simple, fast, and fluid. Since that time, improvements to computer hardware and internet technology have once again provided us the opportunity to raise the bar for what users can expect from the Google Maps experience. In place of our previous, static map, you will now find that Google Maps is immersively interactive. Try clicking just about anywhere to surface more information and to make the map more relevant to you. Every interaction dynamically changes the map in order to surface information relevant to the location, search topic, and your search history. For example, if you click on a hamburger place on the map, other nearby locations and nearby food will be highlighted as well.

I figure it’s about time. When most people think of Google Earth, they think maps and geography. Great literature rarely comes to mind. But one way that we can become better social studies teachers is to find ways to integrate our content with fiction and non-fiction sources. One of the best ways to do that is by using Google Lit Trips.

Jerome Burg originated the Google Lit Trips site several years ago and it’s been growing ever since: This site is an experiment in teaching great literature in a very different way. The site encourages teachers to create and share their own Google Earth lit tours as well as download the tours of others. Lit Trips allow your kids to tie content with place and time by taking advantage of the many Google Earth tools. Whatever you do, be sure to have fun! Like this:
