Surface Pro 3 vs. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro - Hardware and software discussion

Surface Pro 3 is not an ultrabook, it's a tablet. The unique point of this device is that you get full laptop connectivity - particularly USB hosts (i.e. you can plug devices into it, not plug it in as a device) - in tablet format. It also gets a kinda keyboard cover, but it's only a small improvement over on-screen keyboard. The biggest point of the keyboard cover is that it doesn't take up screen space the way an on-screen one does, so you can actually use websites and type, not pick one. And can play actual PC games, not just birds. These features are totally decisive for travel. The main limitation Surface has is typing, but it's a full-on tablet and almost a laptop. Surface Pro 3 vs. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: Specs, Price. Now that Microsoft has let the Surface Pro 3 cat out of the bag, we can stack it up against existing alternatives to see how it measures up with the rest of the market.

Surface Pro 3 vs. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: Specs, Price

The Surface Pro 3 pricing and spec rumors that were whispered prior to Microsoft’s event turned out to be true. Five configurations are offered, with the base model Surface Pro 3 starting at $799, and the high-end maxing out at an eye-popping $1,949. Sure, there are other laptops that are priced much higher than that, but they’re outside of the Surface Pro 3′s weight and spec class, which makes those comparisons unfair. However, Lenovo’s Yoga 2 Pro, which we reviewed back in November, is more than a fair match-up for Microsoft’s newest laptop/tablet hybrid. So how do the two measure up against one another?

We’ll take you through the two devices step by step, starting with specs, and including design, as well as price. Specs. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 vs Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro vs Macbook Air. Microsoft has been making steady improvements to its Surface line with each iteration of the device.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro review

Our review unit partnered a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-4200U CPU with 4GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD – a very reasonable specification given the price. The result is solid performance, and the Yoga 2 dispatched our Real World Benchmarks with an overall score of 0.61. The Samsung SSD, meanwhile, does its best to keep boot times and application times swift, and while it isn’t technically as fast as the best drives (we recorded sequential read and write speeds of 488MB/sec and 130MB/sec in the AS SSD benchmark), we encountered no issues with system responsiveness. Meanwhile, the Intel Haswell CPU makes the most of the 54Wh battery sealed inside the Yoga 2. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, il “convertibile” col display fantastico - Media World.

The all-around best-in-class example of a first-generation Windows 8 hybrid was the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga , a clever fold-back laptop-turned-tablet that was almost universally liked in both its 13-inch and 11-inch versions (let's just not mention the 11-inch Windows RT variant ).

It's a tough act to follow, but the flagship for the era may well be the IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro. If you're not familiar with how the Yoga line works, it masquerades as an ordinary thin clamshell laptop, but the lid and display fold back a full 360 degrees to form either a thick tablet, or a stand/kiosk device when only folded partway back. That basic hook applies to both the original and updated models. How exactly does the Yoga 2 top the original? The star of the show is an ultrahigh-res 13.3-inch display, with a native resolution of 3,200x1,800 pixels. The most apt comparison is with other better-than-HD systems, such as the MacBook Pro and Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus.

Laptops and netbooks Reviews. Lenovo has been breaking ground in the convertible ultrabook world with its Yoga line.

Laptops and netbooks Reviews

In our Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga review we found ourselves surprisingly pleased with this versatile hybrid laptop and its solid performance. Even if we didn't use the Yoga as a tablet, we often flipped the keyboard back to poke through Windows 8 live tiles or watch some Netflix. What we didn't like were mostly minor complaints. The keyboard, the trackpad, and the screen were all winners. The absence of a backlit keyboard was a mild annoyance, while the lack of a true 1080 display was a read missed opportunity. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Review: Flipping Fantastic. Lenovo Italia.
