Mayflower and the Mayflower Compact

That’s what the Pilgrims did in the year 1620, on a ship called Mayflower. Mayflower set sail from England in July 1620, but it had to turn back twice because Speedwell, the ship it was traveling with, leaked. After deciding to leave the leaky Speedwell behind, Mayflower finally got underway on September 6, 1620.In the 1600s, the ocean was full of dangers. Ships could be attacked and taken over by pirates.

Although Mayflower did not sink, a few of these things actually did happen! Although many people were seasick on the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, only one person died. One baby was born during the journey. Finally, in March 1621, there were enough houses that everyone could live on land. Back to Top The Ship and Its People Traveling on the ocean 400 years ago was a very different experience than it is today. "I SAW ANNE FRANK DIE"- OU.ORG. I even danced a little. Willard Scott mentioned my name on television. But such a time is also for reflection. I was born in Germany in 1897, got married and had two children in the 1920s. After I arrived at the Bergen-Belsen barracks, I was told I was to be the barracks leader. There were about 500 women and girls in my barracks. One of the children in my barracks toward the end of the war was Anne Frank, whose diary became famous after her death.

Texas State Historical Association (TSHA)

The oldest of our education programs, Junior Historians was founded in 1939 by Walter Prescott Webb, the respected Texas historian who wanted students to get involved in the actual "doing of history". Junior Historian chapters usually form through organized clubs functioning within the established school instructional program, however students without a chapter can also participate as a member-at-large. Guided by a school-approved sponsor, students participate in chapter activities that enable them to discover and research history, both in the classroom and in the community. The Annual Meeting and History Fair is usually held in late March or early April. Kidshistoryclub - Main page. History. 15 Fascinating Facts About Ancient Egypt. 15 Fascinating Facts About Ancient Egypt

I have tried for a long time to come up with a good idea for a list relating to it and this is the first (of what I hope will be many!) These facts should serve as a good introduction to Ancient Egyptian culture and society – and hopefully many will be things you did not know. 1. 14 Wild Ideas. (Update: she knows her) Bob Fish writes about his experience playing with Siri, the voice-enabled assistant software included with the new iPhone 4S: I have fond memories of playing with an old Apple ][ program called Eliza which was supposed to be a therapist that you could talk to and she'd help you out by listening and giving you suggestions.
