The secret to flat abs? Foods like whole grains, low-fat dairy, and lean protein, which curb hunger, boost your calorie burn, and prevent belly bloat.
Someone once wrote that every good novel must contain at least one recipe. Although I wouldn’t go quite that far, I agree that food can be a window into a novel’s world and its characters’ culture. I always pay particular attention to what characters are eating, especially when a book is set in another part of the world.
I’ve always known that labeling recipes as Kid-Friendly is somewhat misleading; children, like adults, all have different tastes, so predicting what other children might like based on my own child’s taste (which seems to change as often as her clothes lately) is kind of presumptuous as well as silly. Still, the error of my ways was brought home to me in a big way this week during our annual extended-family vacation. Each year, the whole bunch of us, including my parents, my sister and brother-in-law, and their three kids, ages 9 to 14, rent a condo on the Gulf coast. This year’s destination was Pensacola Beach, where the condo had a huge kitchen that I would have loved to take home with me. I was in charge of making dinner for all of us one night, and I knew that it was going to be difficult to find something to please my nephews and niece, who are renowned in the family for being picky eaters. As my middle nephew told me, “We don’t eat vegetables.
Humble dishes can be some of the most satisfying to make and to eat. when I was a kid my mom would always make a dish of potatoes and sausage that she called potatoes paprikash.
La Rioja is a small region in the north of Spain, most famous for its high quality wines. The cuisine of La Rioja may not be as famous as its wines, but there are some fabulous-tasting classic dishes from the area. One of them is this potato recipe, "patatas riojanas."
- sweet potatoes -olive oil -nutritional yeast -coconut milk -earth balance -flour -dried rosemary -salt -pepper -scallions First: Pre Heat oven to 365 degrees Second: Cut your sweet potato in half, the long way. Then slice the potato really thin (the short way). You want your potato slices to be really thin so they will bake well. 3rd: Drizzle olive oil on a pan and place your potato slices in layers along the pan so they look like rows of fallen dominoes.
Barina Craft's home bar site. This chart was compiled from many other food and wine pairing charts to provide a quick reference and ongoing resource for your home bar's wine rack or cellar. The commonly recommended complementary matches from a number of different sommelier guides, wine tasting experts, winery suggestions and industry publications were tabulated yielding a kind of consensus grouping of lists. Informal observations suggested much more commonality and agreement on the wine pairings advocated at the ends of the taste spectrum.
Donna Hay’s Roasted Pumpkin Soup is THE most easiest pumpkin soup I have ever made. Also helps that it is really delicious too! If you haven’t made your own pumpkin soup before I really recommend you try this one! I made a double batch so I could place left overs in the freezer.
In the fall of 2007 I studied abroad in Dusseldorf, Germany through my school's film program.
I eat a lot of salsa. A LOT. I am rather notorious for this, in fact.
If you're going to get started, this is the cake you should begin with. Not just because it's simple - though it is - but because it is, for me, essence of chocolate cake: melting, luscious and mood-enhancingly good. A food technologist would explain this in terms of "mouthfeel" but I don't know quite how that makes me feel.
Can you believe 2011 is almost over? Where did the year go? 2011 was a pretty great year, especially for this little blog of mine. Over the last 12 months, we have picked up lots of new friends along the way.
Ordering take-out can get expensive and who knows exactly what is in that plastic or Styrofoam container they hand you. After some research* I’ve found that Panda Express’ Mongolian Beef has 1000 mg of sodium per serving. PF Chang’s Mongolian Beef has 1340 mg of sodium per serving.
