The Elements of Music. Music is a highly versatile art that originates in nature, and has been taken up by mankind as a way of expression and also as an art.

On this day, I wish you many choral years of celebrating World Music Day. A quick glance at what goes on behind the headphones and speakers into the making of a song. Music and its elements were initially taken up by man from sounds in nature, like the chirping of birds or blowing of the wind. Today, music has become an inclusive aspect. There exist countless numbers of genres and sub-genres that are unraveled frequently. Form/Musical Form The musical form is identification of the overall layout of music, and defines the genre of the physical characteristic it resonates.Sometimes, the format of lyrics is also used to classify the form of music. The Elements Of Music. One of the first things I like to do is give the student a general overview of the basic building blocks of music and how they apply to playing the bass.

This bass lesson is to simply give you a taste of the basic elements which make up music. If you feel like you don’t fully understand everything that follows, don’t worry. Meter organizes beats into groups, usually of two or three; beats can be divided into small units usually 2, 3 or 4 subdivisions Melody, or musical line, is a combination of pitch and rhythm (some say "duration"). Timbre – sound quality or tone color; timbre is the characteristic that allows us to distinguish between one instrument and another, and the difference between vowel sounds (for example, long "a" or "ee").

Dynamics – loud or soft. Texture – monophonic (one voice or line), Music theory. Music theory considers the practices and possibilities of music.

Sound is created when an object vibrates. These vibrations are perceived by our ears and then sent to our brain. Our brain in turn analyzes these signals and let's us know what type of sound we are hearing (i.e. an alarm clock ringing, a car horn blaring, etc.). Music is differentiated from other sounds because it has certain qualities. When you listen to a piece of music, you'll notice that it has several different characteristics; it may be soft or loud, slow or fast, combine different instruments and have a regular rhythmic pattern.
