I find that generators can be a fantastic ways to get little prompts and bits of inspiration for worldbuilding and content creation - and there are a lot of great ones out there! So let's have this thread be a directory of generators that might be useful for Clockwork content and character creation. If you know any good ones, throw them at me! It's a new steampunk pattern! It's really an attractive outfit with some nice pieces. The bolero jacket is really lovely, in both its variations. If I hadn't already made a bolero, I'd probably use this pattern to make one. The overskirt is also really nice, thought I'm not sure how the bustling is done in the back. Steampunk Sewing Patterns. If you follow us on facebook or twitter, you got a sneak peek at this coat last week, and here it is in all its gear covered glory… The project idea for this was to take our designs and see how well we could incorporate them into a full fashion jacket, and somehow (not surprisingly) that turned into a full-on heavy stitched steampunk project! The coat itself is handmade, though not by me. I actually picked it up at a clothing swap, so I’m afraid to say I don’t know who made it. Should someone spot their masterpiece do let me know, they did a fabulous job. Everything from planning the designs to get everything to work well with the make of the coat, to figuring out which designs, where, and what colors took a a few hours of fiddling with templates.

It takes a specualtive look at what might be if the past was set in the future. The term was coined in the 1980s, created to define a genre of novels and a small subculture growing around the idea. I have received several requests for a tutorial on making my steampunk leather top hat, shown above, and so, here it is. The first drawing shows the three pattern pieces (not to scale). The wave on the bottom of the crown is what gives the brim its distinctive curve. The pattern below is the one that I used to make my top hat. For a size large, the width of the crown (from side to side) should measure 23.8". You can print it out and enlarge it to get it to lifesize. The crown joins at the back with a butt seam.
