How to create and deploy a cloud service The Azure Management Portal provides two ways for you to create and deploy a cloud service: Quick Create and Custom Create. This topic explains how to use the Quick Create method to create a new cloud service and then use Upload to upload and deploy a cloud service package in Azure. When you use this method, the Azure Management Portal makes available convenient links for completing all requirements as you go. If you're ready to deploy your cloud service when you create it, you can do both at the same time using Custom Create. Note If you plan to publish your cloud service from Windows Team Foundation Services (TFS), use Quick Create, and then set up TFS publishing from Quick Start or the dashboard.

Service Bus Windows Azure Service Bus provides a hosted, secure, and widely available infrastructure for widespread communication, large-scale event distribution, naming, and service publishing. Service Bus provides connectivity options for Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and other service endpoints – including REST endpoints -- that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to reach. Endpoints can be located behind network address translation (NAT) boundaries, or bound to frequently-changing, dynamically-assigned IP addresses, or both. Service Bus provides both “relayed” and “brokered” messaging capabilities. In the relayed messaging pattern, the relay service supports direct one-way messaging, request/response messaging, and peer-to-peer messaging.

How It Works – Nasuni By Connor Fee on February 28, 2012 “We found that from a functionality and performance standpoint, the Nasuni Storage Controller (Filer) was better than our current infrastructure. At first, I had a hard time believing a storage solution that securely incorporated the cloud could match the performance of a local NAS.” – Matt Donehoo, Director of IT At the heart of the Nasuni offering is our on-premises storage controller, the Nasuni Filer, which provides both the point of control and access for shared storage in Nasuni deployments. Available through a variety of protocols (CIFS/NFS/iSCSI/HTTPS), the Nasuni storage controller delivers storage capacity for NAS or SAN workloads and will support files, databases, and even VM storage – it’s the perfect storage solution for remote and branch offices.

How to configure a cloud service You can configure the most commonly used settings for a cloud service in the Azure Management Portal. Or, if you like to update your configuration files directly, download a service configuration file to update, and then upload the updated file and update the cloud service with the configuration changes. Either way, the configuration updates are pushed out to all role instances. You can also enable a Remote Desktop connection to one or all roles running in your cloud service. Remote Desktop allows you to access the desktop of your application while it is running and troubleshoot and diagnose problems. You can enable a Remote Desktop connection to your role even if you did not configure the service definition file (.csdef) for Remote Desktop during application development.

How to Map CDN Content to a Custom Domain Updated: April 1, 2014 You can map a custom subdomain to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) endpoint in order to use your own domain name in URLs to cached content, rather than the CDN endpoint provided for you. There are two ways to map your custom domain to a CDN endpoint. The simplest way is to create a CNAME record with your domain registrar that maps your custom domain and subdomain to the CDN endpoint. A CNAME record is a DNS feature that maps a source domain to a destination domain.

How Cloud Storage Works" Comedian George Carlin has a routine in which he talks about how humans seem to spend their lives accumulating "stuff." Once they've gathered enough stuff, they have to find places to store all of it. If Carlin were to update that routine today, he could make the same observation about computer information. It seems that everyone with a computer spends a lot of time acquiring data and then trying to find a way to store it.

Group Policy for Beginners If you are an IT pro who has never used Group Policy to control computer configurations, this white paper is for you. Group Policy is the essential way that most organizations enforce settings on their computers. It is flexible enough for even the most complex scenarios; however, the essential features are easy to use in simple scenarios, which are more common. This white paper is an introduction to Group Policy. It first provides an overview of what you can do with Group Policy, and then it describes essential concepts that you must know. Five content filters suitable for both home and business Jack Wallen identifies five content access management and filtering apps. I am not one to advocate a Big Brother-esque environment for business as that does little for morale or instilling a two-way sense of trust. But there are companies out there that must lock down machines, for whatever reason, and need the tools to do so. Home use, of course, is a different story - where young children are susceptible to falling into the clutches of the wealth of mature content the web has to offer. When you need to block content, it's a relief to know there are plenty of tools out there that do the job. I have identified five such tools that I believe can do the trick for anyone willing (or needing) to take the time to get these products set up and running properly.
