Often playing with 1960s and '70s design styles, Tobias Rehberger's environments, furniture, sculptures and ceiling installations have made him a focus of interest for art criticism stressing contextual approaches and cross-over aspirations.

Tobias Rehberger operates within these fields of critical definition without considering them to be particularly meaningful for his work. At the point where design not only produces the "utility" of commodity articles but also supplements usefulness with an immaterial surplus value, Tobias Rehberger concentrates on transferring to the field of art these questions of functionality and added value.

In doing so, he deftly puts out of action the entire policy underlying art-critical interpretations. In this way, the artist shows possibilities, and at the same time makes proposals that depend on the viewer's notions and expectations in order to become "legible" in the first place. Pagan Poetry - Nathalie Djurberg

Together they create pagan poetry in which existential questions are raised, such as: what is life? Some of the figures in the animated films seek the answer in pleasure, ecstasy or an ultimate experience, whether that is to be found in sex, drugs or pain. Others seek it in power and property or, on the other hand, believe they find the essence of life in total detachment. In this sense, the exhibition also deals with death. But its most important themes are fear and desire. Research and direction: Els Hoek Music: Hans Berg Camera: Suzan van Steenwijk Editing: Caroline Hoeberechts. Using a variety of clays she hand sculpts the face and figure, which then becomes the canvas for her unique form of self expression. An avid collector of antique treasure from fabric and trim of the 1800's to antique memorabilia, Marilyn uses these inspirations to layer upon her sculpted forms, adding found objects and nature's elements to the mix. A handwritten page of a French journal from 1882, a rusted key, bridal netting from the turn of the century, beadwork handworked hundreds of years ago all combine their energies, memories and stories to the mystery and enchantment of each piece. Trained in the healing arts, Marilyn is a Reiki Master and many of her latest pieces carry hidden Reiki blessing symbols and contain healing energy. ANISH KAPOOR. Diane Keeler. Frank Stella Biography, Art, and Analysis of Works

It's difficult to define REAL but it is the best word for describing what I like to get out of art and what the best art has. It has the ability to convince you that it's present - that it's there. You could say it's authentic... but real is actually a better word, broad as it may be. " Synopsis In 1959, Frank Stella gained early, immediate recognition with his series of coolly impersonal black striped paintings that turned the gestural brushwork and existential angst of Abstract Expressionism on its head. Key Ideas A decisive departure from Abstract Expressionism, Stella's Black Paintings series consists of precisely delineated parallel black stripes produced by smoothly applied house paint. Created according to a predetermined, circumscribed system imposed by the artist, the Black Paintings served as an important catalyst for Minimalist art of the 1960s. Art review: 'Richard Jackson' at David Kordansky Gallery

Painting is asserted as delirious madness, as worthwhile for its irrational folly as for any more ostensibly sober reason. At David Kordansky Gallery, Jackson built a large room from stretched canvas and painted the interior perimeter with a pastiche of Frank Stella's über-rational, late-1960s and early-1970s Minimalist "protactor" paintings. In the room's center, a life-size pink unicorn -- stock symbol of purity and grace -- is balanced upside down on its horn. Steadied by a doll-like sculpture of a little girl sporting a yellow smiley face and a Dutch worker's wooden clogs, they twirl on a mirrored turntable like some silent, diabolical music box. Red, yellow and blue paint has sprayed from the unicorn's nether regions to splatter everything in sight. Noah L☮VE J☺Y's Photostream. Aubrey Beardsley Art Images. Tomi Ungerer - Official Website.
