History[edit] Conception[edit] Bank of the South. The Bank of the South (Spanish: Banco del Sur, Portuguese: Banco do Sul, Dutch: Bank van het Zuiden) or BancoSur is a monetary fund and lending organization established on 26 September 2009 by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela with an initial capital of US$20 billion.

Argentina, Venezuela, and Brazil were to have each pledged $4 billion, while Uruguay, Ecuador, Paraguay and Bolivia were to have contributed smaller amounts.[1][2] The intention of the bank is to lend money to nations in the Americas for the construction of social programs and infrastructure. The project has been endorsed by Nobel Prize winning, former World Bank economist Joseph Stiglitz, with him saying that "One of the advantages of having a Bank of the South is that it would reflect the perspectives of those in the south", and that "It is a good thing to have competition in most markets, including the market for development lending".[3] Plans and involvement[edit] History[edit]

WHEN an American presidential candidate visits and his key message is to encourage us to pursue a misguided war with Iran, declaring it “a solemn duty and a moral imperative” for America to stand with our warmongering prime minister, we know that something profound and basic has changed in the relationship between Israel and the United States.

My generation, born in the ’50s, grew up with the deep, almost religious belief that the two countries shared basic values and principles. Back then, Americans and Israelis talked about democracy, human rights, respect for other nations and human solidarity. It was an age of dreamers and builders who sought to create a new world, one without prejudice, racism or discrimination. Germans want dope legalized, bestiality banned. Bill C-11 passes Commons, allowing for U.S.-style copyright law. After months of review, it looks like the Harper government's copyright reform bill will likely become law before Parliament's summer recess.

Bill C-11 passed a final vote at third reading on Monday night, bringing Canadians one step closer to SOPA-like regulation of their media consumption. According to the CBC, the bill was immediately introduced to the Senate after passing the vote, and will likely be sped through the Senate review process, meaning it stands a good chance of becoming law in the coming month. Regular readers of The Right Click are likely quite familiar with what the copyright bill will mean to Canadians: Bill C-11 would allow rights holders to include 'digital locks' on their content, which includes music, video, e-books and software. It’s not like the War on Drugs, which started over forty-years ago in 1973, has done anything to increase the growing level of economic disparity in America… right? A lot happened in 1973. It was a few years after Nixon slammed the gold window shut, the waning hours of a decapitated Civil Rights movement, and the year we began to disentangle ourselves from Vietnam.
