LE BLEU. LE BLEU - 19 ave de la Mediterranée, 11370 Leucate - La Franqui There are a number of restaurants at La Franqui Plage and we tried the largest one last time we were there.

LE BLEU

It was not good - the food was of not so good quality and the service unpleasant. This time we went a few steps down the street and found the little restaurant Le Bleu, which has a few tables in the shadow under some palm trees and looked quite nice. It is not a gourmet restaurant, but a very pleasant beach restaurant. The service was very friendly and the food was of good quality and well made. My wife had a whole grilled dorade that was big and perfectly cooked. The restaurant had also a good selection of desserts, drinks and other small thing and, most important for a beach restaurant, they were open all day. It is only one little thing we did not like. 19 euros for an entrecôtes that is something else and 23 euros for a grilled fish, even if it was large and well cooked is a bit too much.

KIMCH’I. KIMCH’I – 20, ave Wilson, 11200 Lezignan-Corbières First of all we must say that we have never been to a Korean restaurant before so we have nothing to compare with.

KIMCH’I

The food was however made with a lot of ambition even if it did not entirely please us. Also we had the set lunch menu that might be something totally different to the more expensive alternatives. For starter we had Korean Ravioli that was beautifully made with beef filling, but we had expected more filling with more tastes and less pastry. My main course was a Korean specialty – Bibimbap - that was nice, especially with some hot sauce. My wife had a very good white wine from Chateau Grand Moulin. The service was nice and the decoration of the restaurant brand new in, what I think is Korean style. HOSTELLERIE DE LA REINE JEANNE.

BISTROT DECOUVERTE. BISTROT DECOUVERTE - 19, bv.

BISTROT DECOUVERTE

Victor Hugo, 13210 St Rémy de Provence We came to St Rémy de Provence on a Sunday so many restaurants were closed. The owner of the hotel however recommended Bistrot Decouverte, which was an excellent suggestion. It is a family owned restaurant in the old town and the food was really good and the prize was very reasonable. The foie gras we had was perfect and the lamb shank for main course was delicious and very tender. The selection of wine was really good with a large selection of local wine that one can buy to take home. WEB: LATEST VISIT: 2013 NUMBER OF VISITS: 1 Those who read Swedish can follow our entire trip in Provence on and on. RESTAURANT COTE COUR. First of all - the food is absolutely fantastic.

RESTAURANT COTE COUR

The starter, the main course and the desserts were all of highest quality. The starter we had was soft boiled egg with an emulsion of bacon - fantastic. For main course we had shoulder of lamb that had been cooked for 36 hours. It was perfect. LA POTINIERE DU PALAIS. LA POTINIERE DU PALAIS - 13, Square Mérimée, 06400 Cannes So far we had used Guide Michelin to find good restaurants.

LA POTINIERE DU PALAIS

This time we liked to find something ourselves. The only criterion was that my wife liked to eat deep fried Squash flowers. LE RELAIS. GRAND CAFE. LA TREILLE MUSCATE. LA COLOMBE d’OR. LE PRE ST JEAN. LE PRE ST JEAN - 18 Avenue du Marechal Leclerc, 34120 Pézenas There are quite a few restaurants in Pézenas' Historic Centre, but the quality is uneven and it is mostly difficult to get a table during summer.

LE PRE ST JEAN

A little more than 100 meters from Centre Historique on the main street we found Restaurant Le Pré St Jean- a gourmet restaurant with reasonable prizes. It was a very pleasant experience - the food was excellent and the service friendly and correct. We all had fish dishes that were delicious. The interiour of the restaurant is pleasant and has a more formal style than most restaurants in the Historic Centre. Revisited January 2014: This time we had meat. Revisited April 2014: A simple but delicious two-course lunch this time and a glass of wine each.

WEB: www.restaurant-leprestjean.fr Latest visit: April 2014 Number of visits: 3. LA COURTINE. LA COURTINE - 4 Place Marcou, 11000 Carcassonne La Cité in Carcassonne is full of restaurants, but quite a few are not really worth the prize.

LA COURTINE

There are however some who are very good. We found one the other day – La Courtine. It is situated in the corner of Place Marcou, there you find lots of restaurants, most of them not worth a visit. As we had our grand-children with us we were looking for a restaurant where they served spaghetti- This Italian restaurant did so. The service was nice and friendly. LE VITALIANO. LA PENICHE. LA PENICHE - 19, quai des Tonneliers, 11200 Homps As we did not want to disturb Restaurant En Bonne Compagnie across the canal we went to La Pénich that we had been to a couple of times before and found quite pleasant.

LA PENICHE

The service is good and friendly. Many of the staff can speak English which is almost necessary around the Canal du Midi nowadays. CAFE DE LA PROMENADE. Best Eating Out in Languedoc. HOSTELLERIE DE LA REINE JEANNE. Best Eating Out in Languedoc. L'AUBERGE du VIEUX PUITS. L'AUBERGE du VIEUX PUITS - 5, Av St Victor 11360 Fontjoncouse. Guide Michelin * * * The three-star restaurant L'Auberge du Vieux Puits is located in the small mountain village Fontjoncouse that has a little over 100 inhabitants. You reach the village through the winding mountain roads with stunning scenery. The food is prepared by the eminent chef Gilles Goujon and despite times of crisis, it is difficult to get a table even on an ordinary weekday. They are open both at lunch and at dinner. LE PARC. LE PARK - 110 Chemin des Anglais, 11000 Carcassonne Guide Michelin * * Le Parc is one of three restaurants in Carcassonne, which has a Michelin star.

LE PARC

According to the guide is Franck Putelat aspirant on another star soon. He has already crowned his career with the prestigious Bocuse d'Or 2003. The restaurant offers a delicious lunch menu based on local products, processed to perfection. The menu we had was mainly based on seafood as squid, sea snails, rock fish, mussels and tuna. LA TABLE DE FONTFROIDE. LA TABLE DE FONTFROIDE - Abbaye de Fontfroide, 11100 Narbonne La Table de Fontfroide is located in the ancient Abbaye de Fonfroide.

They say the have served food to travelers since the end of the 11th century. It might be a surprice to get inside the restaurant as the entrance looks quite anonymous and the sign Restaurant -Snack, does not promise any culanary experiences. Well inside however an absolutely faboulous room opens up - high cealings and beauitfully renovated. L'AUBERGE DE LA CROISADE. L'AUBERGE de la CROISADE - 34 310 Cruzy The restaurant is beautifully located on the Canal de Midi.

Their speciality is fish but they also serve excellent meat dishes. L'AUBERGE CÔTE JARDIN. L'AUBERGE CÔTE JARDIN - 11200 Conilhac-Corbières L’Auberge Côte Jardin is a restaurant what gives me mixed feelings.

L'AUBERGE CÔTE JARDIN

The ambition of the chef David Prevel is high and he mostly succeeds to serve delicious innovative dishes that are modern variations of the traditional kitchen of the region. One can feel a certain inspiration from the big star in the area Giles Goujon at Fontjoncouse when it comes to choice of products and presentation. CENTRE DE CONCHYLICULTURE. CENTRE de CONCHYLICULTURE - D627, 11370 Leucate For lovers of oysters and other seafood this is heaven! There are many places along Golfe de Lyon where you can eat seafood and oysters and many places are both exclusive and expensive, but there is no place like the small sheds along the canal in Port Leucate.

The oysters are not only the most delicious; the setting is also totally fantastic and really no-nonsense. Along the little canal the producers have built very simple sheds were they serve sea-food and nothing but seafood. You can buy wine and bread, but that is all. WEB: LATEST VISIT: 2013 NUMBER OF VISITS: >10. OASIS. OASIS - Boulevard du Front de Mer, 11100 Narbonne Plage There are a large number of restaurants along the beach-walk in Narbonne Plage.

We have come to like the Restaurant Oasis. There are no gourmet restaurants along this walk, but what you need is good affordable food in a restaurant with good service. Oasis is the place where you can get lunch or dinner if you spend your day on the beach. It is just five minutes’ walk from the water to the restaurant and it is open all day so you do not have to eat between 12 and 2 PM as is mostly the case in France. LE GRAND LARGE. LE GRAND LARGE - Avenue pasteur prolongé, 34560 Balaruc les Bains Le Grand Large is one of our favorites in Balaruc les Bains. LE TOURNEDOS. CHÉZ SASKIA. BRASSERIE L & L. EN FACE. EN FACE - 27 Cours de la République, 11 100 Narbonne This is one of our favorites for lunch in Narbonne. BRASSERIE CO. LA TABLE DE SAINT-CRESCENT. AU COQ HARDI. LE GRANDS BUFFETS. If you are new to French food and would like to take a grand tour through everything on a French table or if you are a big eater you should go to Le Grands Buffets in L’Espace de Liberte in Narbonne.

It is also a great place to take guests to explore the French cuisine. For less than 30 euros you can eat as much as you like of everything of every French specialty. There is seafood, ham, foie gras, charcuteries and a lot of other things as starters, there is a grill with everything from frog legs to meat of all sorts, there is hot and cold dishes, salads, cheese and in the end a desert table with hundreds of different things to taste. You can buy wine by the glass and in bottles of the most famous wines from the area and they do not add anything on the prize. They charge you the same as you would pay at the vineyard.
