If you are lucky enough to have a drill press, this kind of drill press setup will work best. If your bead is longer than the length of the drill bit (get a longer drill bit ;-) or drill a little over halfway down the length of the bead, then tackle from the other end and hope the two "tunnels" will meet in the middle.
