How to knit close-fitting fingerless gloves

How to knit close-fitting fingerless gloves
To knit one pair of fingerless gloves, you will need the following supplies: 1 pair size 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles. (Size 8 will also work) 1 skein Worsted Weight yarn, any color. 1 tapestry needle All these supplies are available in the U.S. at JoAnn Fabrics stores and Michaels Craft stores. Total cost probably will not exceed $10. I am an experienced knitter, and each glove takes me about 2-3 hours to make, depending on how many interruptions I get ;-)

Gift Box Gift Box This box made from two bills. The bills/box can be the gift itself, but it is also just about the right size for a ring box. Doctor Who Tardis Socks I knitted up a pair of these a few years ago and they’ve gotten lots of complements. I’ve finally written up my pattern, which pre-supposes you know how to knit socks. These are written to fit about a size 8 ladies foot in fingering/sock yarn. If you want a larger size, try knitting it in sport or DK weight wool. If you can knit a basic pair of socks, then all you need to do is pull out your favorite pattern in fingering weight yarn, plug in my chart for the leg portion of the sock, then do your favorite heel and toe. My favorite pattern for socks is Cat Bordi’s wonderful Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles

mad in crafts: DIY Fire & Ice Lanterns The old becomes new: A new variation on the outdoor lantern. We have had an unusually warm winter in Michigan this year, and while the temps have been nice, I have had to hold off on this project idea until we got a cold snap. We finally got some snow and cold earlier this week, so I was able to try out this fun winter project. I had pinned a product called Globe Ice Lantern Kits a few months back recognizing that I could DIY them at home. Originally priced at nearly $30 for a kit that makes 6 lanterns, I think they are very reasonable for a small batch. Fingerless Mitts part 3: Knit Gradient Mitts! Now for part 3 of my Fingerless Mitts Times 3 tutorials from Craft: 10! Knit Gradient Mitts! It’s written as more of a how-to than a normal knitting pattern, with step-by-step instructions and photos to go with them! I made it into a free PDF – download it directly here or head over to ravelry to add it to your library – and I’m pasting it all right here as well…. enjoy! This is a fantastic project for beginner knitters bored with scarves – just don’t be scared off by the double pointed needles, which are very easy to use once you get the hang of them. By knitting in the round with DPNs, you only need to know the knit stitch (no purling) and there will be no seams to sew.

How to make gift bags from newspaper When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper. I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. This will be a two-ply bag for extra sturdiness. Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall.

Vegas Armwarmers - Knit Easy Armwarmers Warmth Punk Style: It seems like I'm cold all year long, but especially in the fall when the weather has cooled but there are still air conditioners on everywhere. I love fingerless gloves (armwarmers or gauntlets) to keep my arms and hands a little warmer when the temperature inside and outside don't match. These punk-inspired warmers are completely simple because they're knit flat and sewn up, so you can leave as much room as you need for your thumb. Materials:

Fingerless Gloves Warm Hands, Warm Heart: Fingerless gloves are essential if you're the sort of person who is cold even inside buildings. These bulky mitts are perfect for wearing while working -- or knitting -- because your fingers are free to move.
