A public appeal for people who can repair BBC Micro computers has been launched by a museum. The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) needs help to maintain the stock of BBC machines it uses in education programmes and exhibits. It is looking for people familiar with the computer and its peripherals including monitors and disk drives. The 8-bit BBC Micro was launched in 1981 and gave many people their first taste of home computing. The museum, which is located on the Bletchley Park estate, has about 80 BBC Micro computers, said Chris Monk, learning co-ordinator at the organisation. The Nation No sooner am I settled in an interviewing room in the police station of Kirkuk, Iraq, than the first prisoner I am there to see is brought in, flanked by two policemen and in handcuffs. I awkwardly rise, unsure of the etiquette involved in interviewing an ISIS fighter who is facing the death penalty. He is small, much smaller than I, on first appearances just a boy in trouble with the police, his eyes fixed on the floor, his face a mask. Linking Words — A complete List of English Connecting Words Linking & Connecting Words It is essential to understand how Linking Words, as a part of speech, can be used to combine ideas in writing - and thus ensure that ideas within sentences and paragraphs are elegantly connected - for the benefit of the reader. This will help to improve your writing (e.g. essay, comment, summary (scientific) review, (research) paper, letter, abstract, report, thesis, etc.). It is also fundamental to be aware of the sometimes subtle meaning of these "small" words within the English language. How thermal imaging tech is about to become hot stuff Image copyright Detroit Zoo Soon we'll all be feeling the heat, thanks to thermal imaging technology. Although it's already been used by industry, the military and some emergency services, it was expensive and therefore had a limited market. But in the same way that GPS location tech has now found its way into cars, smartphones, cameras and many other devices, thermography, as it's more properly known, is on the brink of becoming a universal technology, too. The cost of chips and thermal detectors that enable us to see and measure infrared heat signatures from surfaces has plunged in recent years. So in the future, that means more sensors in more places.

8 Shell Commands For Data Scientists There are many scenarios where you need to quickly analyze, modify and process large files, both in number and size. However, files are often text-based Comma Separated Values (CSV) files. Opening them with standard spreadsheet applications, such as Excel, LibreOffice or OpenOffice, overloads a machine's memory. Also, processing a large number of files in one batch often fails after a few hours because of some unexpected file anomaly. You inevitably spend a lot of time in frozen screens, restarts and long waits.

The Japan times Japan’s postwar pacifism will face a critical challenge this year that could drastically change the course of this country forever: the July Upper House election. Right-leaning parties, most notably the ruling Liberal Democratic Party led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, will try to capture more than two-thirds of the 242-seat chamber in the election, and thus have the seats required to initiate a national referendum to revise the war-renouncing Constitution. But which parties currently advocate constitutional revision? And how many seats are those parties likely to win in the election? The following are questions and answers on the numbers in the election and the prospects for the political battle over the Constitution. Why is the Upper House election regarded as critical to the fate of the Constitution?

Is there a way to fix the size oif my root Pearltree? . It always reverts to oversize when I log in despite resizing it previously by cellarman Dec 16

My comment was to a particular news story which I thought had linked (Liam Fox), not the actual headlines I seen which would be insensitive...the question if Im an idiot..I would hold judgement on others without knowing the full story...Being new to Pearltree my comment was placed in error. by pearybhoy Oct 15
